Does this mean because Kerr & Field are 18th & 19th man , wont play any CC game at all ? Isn't that 2 weeks without a game by both ? Cant understand this.

I think Kerr will play as a our bench is very small, i expect LL to drop out if Host is passed fit. Field, I believe had an injury.

My thanks to all who posted on the JF and CC games. I have been starved of info on the lower grades having left the country after Rd 2. Won't be back to Finals time but can at least see the main game on Watch NRL. Let's hope for 3/3 today! Go Dragons!

How did the Robson and Pearson play?
Both solid in their work but not to say outstanding.
I am convinced that CC is a type of footy where it is not easy to excel as there is a basic lack of structure and team work.
It is all a bit ad hoc and tends to make some players more "individual" in what they do and therefore someone who plays well within structure might in fact suffer.
IMO not until they play some serious 1st grade minutes will you be able to evaluate their worth.

Not much thought has gone into this by the NRL. In my opinion all CC games should be a curtain raiser to the main game that they are a feeder Club to. In SGI's case, we have a Canterbury Cup team and so this team should be follow where the NRL playes and play as the curtain raiser to the main game.

I'd say it is more to do with the coaching staff and what the NRL head coach want to gain out of Canterbury Cup players.

St George Illawarra Dragons emerged victorious over the Bulldogs with a 28-14 win to earn their second victory of the season.

Both teams were evenly matched in the first half with both teams attacking well but it was the home team who took an early lead after Jackson Ford collected a loose ball and placed it down calmly to get his first try of the game.

Bulldogs responded soon after with their first try of the game after a smooth succession of passes led to Connelly Leumelo getting himself a try.

The Saints got themselves one more try before the break after a long pass found Jonus Pearson and the try was converted to extend their lead.

Canterbury replied quickly by scoring two tries in four minutes to take a lead of 10-14 at half time.

The Dragons scored the first try in the second half with some excellent passes finding Lachlan Maranta to level the scores at 14-14.

The Saints took the lead after fullback Tristan Sailor kicked the ball over the Bulldogs’ defence and found its way to Shaun Sauni-Esau who put the ball on the try line with ease.

The home side then scored another two tries in 10 minutes to extend their lead to 28-14, with Shaun Sauni-Esau and Jackson Ford collecting their second tries of the game.

The final score finished at 28-14 with St George Illawarra getting the win over Canterbury and thus securing their second win of the season.

Jackson Ford spoke to nswrl.com.au following the match,

“We’re all pretty happy with the win, after a tough start at the beginning of the season it’s great to get the two wins back to back."
