Got to see 40 minutes of Flegg vs KOE sides before being called away, much to my disappointment. So just a few snippets. Flegg were up 14-8 with 30 mins to go. Both teams looked fitter and sharper than the games I saw last year or was this just wishful thinking? They were getting a break every 10 minutes. Unfortunately in the first half the KOE team played that style of Dragons' footy where they drop the ball every time they get their hands on it. Gifted 2 tries to Flegg. On the positive side, Rumble sliced through the defence for a nice try so did Josh Ralph but spilt the ball on the goal line. Coric made a few powerful runs. Brandon Webster-Mansfield moved nicely to finish a good backline movement for one try. It was good to see Fui back from his appalling injury last year. Interesting that he appeared much bigger than when playing in the NRL.What a massive day of dragons/steelers footy.. I think the JF vs NSWCup side was in the morning? I dont know if we will get any news/scores/whatever out of that one, bar anyone here who was at the ground?
Harold Matts, Steelers got up again and Dragons are in front.. hope they get their win.. and then 2x SG about to start!
As I said, only a few snippets but the best news was I sighted Deano at the ground!Got to see 40 minutes of Flegg vs KOE sides before being called away, much to my disappointment. Didn't know many of the Flegg boys but thought Jett Liu had a fair bit more impact than when I watched him last year. There was a decent backline movement which resulted in the left winger scoring in the corner.

Sensational thanks Steve! Given most of the cup side is in the extended squad tonight, its sort of a mixed bag of players, but good on the JF boys!Got to see 40 minutes of Flegg vs KOE sides before being called away, much to my disappointment. This Ressie pair of imports look impressive from footage I have seen.6. Josh Ralph
7. Jonah Glover
Some talent among this Flegg group. Suppose there was no one from our club covering the game. Even a live stream without commentary would do nicely.6. Nick Quinn
7. Ashton Ward
8. Jacob Webster
9. Kyan Hjaltason
10. Jett Liu
I wonder which SG players will move up to Flegg or NSW Cup.Finally we get to see the makeup of our two lower grade sides.

Some talent among this Flegg group. Be great to actually see them in action, other than a 2min h/l reel.
Whether they drop out or not depends on how they game manage the Flegg side. Take em to the finals and the Steelers halves pair will have to wait.Quinn/Ward
SG Finals will be the month of April I believe, so somewhere between maybe 5-8 rounds of Jersey Flegg has gone down by the time the Steelers kids are available to move up?Whether they drop out or not depends on how they game manage the Flegg side. I disagree, last year is an exception because the lower grades were run so poorly. Most of the SG kids will play JF this year with an exception of a few, it is good for their development to play JF and dominate there. Flano is all over it and has a plan for every single kidSG Finals will be the month of April I believe, so somewhere between maybe 5-8 rounds of Jersey Flegg has gone down by the time the Steelers kids are available to move up?
I have a suspicion that Reed/King-Togia will immediately take those jerseys? Either that or they end up in NSW Cup..
Yah I'm in agreeance, I think they will take the JF jerseys, I think Quinn/Ward will be superseded.I disagree, last year is an exception because the lower grades were run so poorly. Yep I think Marschke was originally bought as nsw cup 5/8, and crucial for injury cover for 1st grade.. But he's impressed so much that he's probably a lock in our 17..Yep Marshcke, Glover and Ralph will need to get serious minutes in NSW cup in case injuries strike in FG
Marshcke though maybe able to hold down a FG spot on the bench?
Egan 182cm, that's basically 6ft i highly doubt that.BTW if Liam Martin NRL debuted early 2019 when he had turned 22yrs old
And Ryan Couchman NRL debuted at 19yrs of age and now just on 20yrs old has played 5 games of NRL already.
R Couchman will potentially have two more seasons of FG when he is the same age as Liam when he debuted NRL.
That means Ryan may have another NRL 30 or 40 games to his name when turning 22yrs old (same as Martin NRL debut age).
I suspect we underestimate were Ryan Couchman is already in his development.
Egan is only 19yrs old still? now played 6 games in NSW Cup and will get a whole season there this season and another pre season end of 2024
Egan and R.Couchman will fill out a lot next two seasons and be everywhere as big and strong as Liam Martin 22yrs ofl debut NRL age. Martin is currently 103kg at almost 27yrs of age. Supposedly Egan is 182cm and just on 95kg and R Couchman 100kg and 188cmish. Both 19/20 yrs old respectively.
Not to forget the other seriously exciting 18 and 19 yr old edge and or backrowers:
Tsougranis
Latu
Halangahu
Stewart
Ackers
Meafou
Cyrus Stanley Traill
Alongside this we will go for a couple project players ie ex centres aspiring to become backrowers
Tom Esienhuth a centre made the transition and finally at 25yrs of age played his 2nd game of NRL then has played another 60 games since for the Storm and probably will play 20 or so for us in 2024
Kurt Capewell did similar as a centre at the Sharks at 22yrs of age with Flano in 2016 but transitioned to edge backrow next season and played 15 games or so.............NOW 140 games plus as a edge backrower
ie the rangy tall guys who dont quite have the take off speed for centre anymore but need a few years to fil out for edge backrow around that 22/24yrs of age
22yr old Brandon Mansfield looks interesting to me and in a good system like Flano is bringing at 102kg and 186cm could be a project player for edge backrow.........played centre orginally then last couple seasons edge backrow
played centre on weekend made two mistakes that led to Flegg tries22yr old Brandon Mansfield looks interesting to me and in a good system like Flano is bringing at 102kg and 186cm could be a project player for edge backrow.........played centre orginally then last couple seasons edge backrow
Glover Ralph signing had nothing to do with Marschke, they were signed after Immanuel Aiava and Sadee Sub Laban were sacked.Yep I think Marschke was originally bought as nsw cup 5/8, and crucial for injury cover for 1st grade.. But he's impressed so much that he's probably a lock in our 17..
Hence the last minute buys of glover/Ralph who I'm rly not that excited about, but atleast it's some experience for the cup team.. And if one excels that's a great bonbonus
He will not get 30k playing Cup footy.@randomdragon
mate is this true the below re $30k a game in NSW Cup and or Qld Cup ????
seems outrageous vs TT and the Sal Cap ????
"Pangai jnr has held preliminary talks with the Broncos, who are open to keeping salary cap space and a roster spot free for him pending his form and fitness.
Any deal would need the NRL’s salary cap auditor to approve a nominal value for Pangai jnr’s signing, which would likely be based on his most recent $750,000 salary and potentially break down to just under $30,000 per game."
