Agree re Herring, definitely has the potential. However, I am pretty sure that he is only on a part time contract, same as Stewart. Others could probably clarify, but I reckon part timers don’t train at all with the full time squad like the Train & Trialists do. That would mean Herring & Stewart (& other part timers named in the team) would only be doing the 1 session a week with the KOE Cup team ie captains run. Which if right is definitely not enough for that level.
Treigh Stewart has been training with the full time squad from all pre season

I watched the game with all this talk about the guys that can come in and take a spot and they were far from impressive. Ryan Carr has got the first grade squad spot on at the moment. Just keep giving the guys in FG more game time for 2024. Time will come for these other guys in KOE to make FG.

Watching the KOE team against Souths, there is nobody in that team that I feel is better than who is in first grade atm? I think Flanno will put a broom through the reserve grade coaches and bring in new ones.
So Toby and his brother have gone from our future to our past in the space of a few weeks.

Couchmans r just babies.. but their work ethic and development for that age is more than impressive.. but they have years of work ahead before they are genuine 1st graders.. having 1 at a time on the bench is an option in 1st grade until then, but they have more growing to do before they will provide impact. Ryan also has errors in him, everytime I see him play.. that said these are some of the only players I feel really confident will definitely be part of our roster in 5yrs time.

Herring is the other for me, he seems to be physically growing quickly which is taking him more from a Jamie Soward to a Matt Burton.. but wherever he ends up, hes the only young spine player we have that seems likely.. we cant be relying on JF/SG etc.. those are much longer term prospects.

I'm not sold on either Finau.. Lobb is a maybe, ppl r writing him off, but he could well prove to be a Garrick for us (who I thought was average before he left).. Lobb is a growing body with 'enough' speed, aerial skills and a goalkicker.

The manly props have good potential, we rly kinda need atleast 1 of them to be 1st grade ready by next year.. or we r in a real hole with finding enough spots free to field a real pack for 2024.

Egan I am hopeful about, still young also.. and that work ethic and club focus.. it should get him there.. but again I cant be sure or anything.. like hes still barely starting his Cup career.

Tamale is the other.. again playing above his age.. but clearly has real skill.

But yes.. none of these guys I am 1000% confident will make it.. Couchmans the best bet for sure...the problem for us is there are so many holes in that NSW CUP side.. and our 1st grade squad is so thin that a lot of players who should be in NSW CUP, are up playing first grade instead.. and it causes problems all the way down.

I, for a long time, have rated Treigh Stuart however, his defensive skills are on a par with Sloan and Sullivan; not up to first-grade standard. So, Sloan to five-eight, Amone to reserve-grade, Suli to left edge forward, Matt Feagai to left-center and for now Treigh Stuart to fullback and Lobb to left wing.

This is the team shake-up we need until the end of the season when the high r priority is to beef up our prop rotation.

Sullivan’s defence has been good.

Thank goodness some on here don’t have any influence on selections.
