Just got the email from the Dragons - Kogarah hosting final.

The St George Illawarra Dragons today announced that they have completed their review, in conjunction with the NRL of home qualifying final venues and advise that WIN Jubilee Oval, Kogarah will host the match that the Club is entitled to by virtue of a top four finish after the regular season of the 2009 Telstra Premiership.
With the Dragons assured of a top three finish, the home final will be played on either Saturday, September 12 or Sunday, September 13 with the date and opponent not likely to be known until after next weekend, the completion of Round 26.

“The Dragons are fortunate to have two boutique community venues from which to choose,” said Dragons CEO Peter Doust. “The final decision was based on commercial grounds and in recognition of the support of the NSW and Federal governments in the re-development of WIN Jubilee Oval in recent years.

“The club also recognises and appreciates the support for WIN Stadium remembering that the Club’s last home final in 2005 was hosted at this venue in Wollongong,” added Doust.

The Dragons’ home venue strategy has always been about achieving a reasonable balance between the two communities and their sporting facilities.

All Dragons’ Corporate Partners, Red V Members and supporters should be pleased that both WIN Jubilee Oval and WIN Stadium fit comfortably into a southern Sydney and regional New South Wales venue management strategy.

Details for the purchasing of tickets to this Home Qualifying Final at WIN Jubilee Oval will be announced by the NRL later this week.

Furthermore, the NRL have confirmed that should the Dragons qualify to host a Week 2 ‘Home City’ Finals or a Week 3 ‘Home Region’ Final they will be played at either the SFS or ANZ Stadium.
