It says 2 years
Don't believe everything you read as it is often incorrect, so I suggest you watch the video on the clubs website and hear the words "3 years" direct from Millward's mouth.
So I again ask if, the next 3 years are going to be his best in the opinion of our recruitment manager and we have him signed for 2 then I sincerely hope there is an option in the club's favour.

So does this mean that Mary sees Mann as the long-term fullback over other options? Millward suggests that he is will be competing for the role again soon, and with Hunt coming in to the halves there won't be much room there for Mann unless he's okay playing off the bench.

Something like this next year?

1. Mann
2. MacDonald
3. Aitken
4. Lafai
5. Nightingale if he re-signs/young blood like Garrick/Dufty if he doesn't
6. Widdop
7. Hunt

For the 2018 backline, I'd say:
1. Mann / backup Dufty
2. Macdonald / backup Herbert
3. Lafai / backup Garrick
4. Aitken / backup Lomax - will be better than Aitken
5. Nightingale / backup - the form junior at that time
6. Widdop / backup Field
7. Hunt / backup Hutch

I suspect Nighty to FB and Mann to wing and he is cover for any injury anywhere in the backline.
Otherwise after the glowing report Millward gave how did we come up with Nighty to FB at every given opportunity this year.

Mainly because Millward isn't coach - although I'm sure he would love to be because of the higher salary. Millward even gave 3 options for fullback and Mary picks non of them. He must really get under Millward's skin sometimes.

If what you're saying is correct, a possible Cutters backline for next year may look like:

1. Dufty
2. Marsters (if he's ready to play against men)
3. Herbert
4. Lomax.
5. Garrick
6. Field
7. Hutch

That's a pretty handy backline and will provide great depth for 2018 and beyond.

Happy days and great signing. This kid can play and will defiantly play a part in the Saints future. Apparently Saints retention is a mess.........Then you read the last paragraph of the article.

"Mann joins the likes of skipper Gareth Widdop, Tyson Frizell, Euan Aitken, Jack de Belin, Paul Vaughan, Tim Lafai, Jai Field, Jacob Host, Blake Lawrie, Luciano Leilua and Reece Robson to have extended their stay at the Dragons this season"

They have done a solid job in that dept and can add Ben Hunt for the next few years. Duges and Packer big losses but they offered them money they were just too greedy and showed no loyalty so see ya later alligator.

Saints will boast great cattle from next season and the 2 years will probably coincide when Nighty leaves which Mann will possibly slot into. How long is McDonald signed for? It may coincide with that as well. They could not sign Mann for more years because it will leave a huge log jam of players coming off contract so I can also understand why the 2 years to spread they contracts out and not have them all run out the same year. Well done Millward. Looks like you are doing well and hope it continues.

Next step is to sign a big bopper to replace Packer.

Definitely need another bid forward and a utility back with scintillating pace and great defence. Our reserve backs are not setting the world on fire. Has Connor Watson gone to Wests?

Do we know how much Mann is getting on this new 2/3 year contract? If he slots into his role at fullback like Millward thinks he may and he's on cheap bucks it could be a steal considering players like Watson are on $500k/year in 2018.

Our proposed team for 2018 only contains 1 out of 30 current SOO players; Frizell. We are not replacing like with like and unless the gamble comes off, we will lose momentum in our quest to win another premiership.

I honestly think we need to replace Dugan as best as possible - can't expect
Dufty
Field
Mann
To be the replacement FB

In 2018 Hunt, Vaughan, JDB and McInnes will be SOO imo.

That's week 1 and 2 of next year. Week 3 & 4

1. Widdop
2. MacDonald
3. Aitken
4. Lafai
5. Mann
6. Hutchison
7. Hunt

Week 5 & 6

Swap in JDP into halfback. You know the routine from there

Only time will tell if he's a gun. Personally I think he has all the skills to be a gun, great hands and a step off both feet, great defender as well. Hope he proves me correct.

Our fullback doesn't need to be a gun.

Just needs to be solid defensively and not stifle our backline. We've gone well even with Nighty at FB. With Hunt and Widdop in the halves, they will be doing most of the playmaking.

If someone like Mann can produce what say Gutherson produces for the Eels, solid with moments of brilliance, I'll be stoked with that given our halves and forwards for next year.
