I think that the NRL announced only a couple of months ago that they were adopting a zero tolerance policy so Garvey may become the first victim of it especially with the One punch can kill support in the wider community .
I dont think the NRL can afford to have it's players putting people in hospital as it will hurt them commercially. It is an abnormality though that if he through the punch on the field he'd be lucky to get more than a few weeks suspension. However if the league takes a serious stance with him he only has himself to blame. The players know what happens if they bring the game into disrepute and everyone was sick of opening the newspaper every week to a new drama
