Last club / regional rep side to play touring teams...

Just curious to know who (and when) the last club teams / regional rep teams played against a touring Australia, Great Britain, New Zealand and France ?

Must be the claim to 'fame' for some parts of the RL world !

The 1992 GB Lions in Oz last game .....was it against the Gold Coast ???

I thought it might be that so I re-read it and saw this part (below) hence my confusion.

This was the last i can think of from each country;

England- played NZ Maori in 2010 in Auckland.

NZ- Played Leeds in 2015 in Leeds.

Australia- Last time i think they played would have been on the 1994 Kangaroos tour. Apart from that they formed a combined ANZAC team with NZ and played against a Cumbrian select XIII in 2005.

That's the last time i remember all 3 big teams played a regional/club team.

You are correct LP ! Totally forgot about that one. Tours more thought of as '90's' activity.

So to clarify ...

Australia's last game against a club / region in England ; France; NZ; and PNG were ...... ?

Repeat as applicable for touring NZ, GB, France, PNG teams .....

GB in Australia appears to be the 1992 Lions v Gold Coast (ARL Team).

Remember them touring UK in late 70's from memory ???

This was the last i can think of from each country;

Great Britain ? which is a separate entity from England since it has included Welsh, Scottish and even Irish players ? played NZ Maori in 1996 in Whangarei.

That tour was against amateur teams only. They also toured the UK in 1987 and played professional teams. They played Wales and France in 1991 but I don't think they played any other club/rep teams.

PNG played games in lead up to Four Nations in 2010 held in Australia.

They toured Australia in 1988 and 1992

NZ in 1983, 1988 and 1992

Toured Gt Britain and France in 1979 (amateur teams in England and pro teams in France), 1987 and 1991

Also played warm up games in France before World Cup in 1995 and 2000

GB played Burleigh in 1999 before the 3N (and almost lost).

A lot of people probably forget the roos were all set to play club sides before the 2001 ashes before the whole cancellation fiasco.

The last full roos tour to nz was 1989 and the last game was v Wellington.

The last roos tour game in 1994 was v France B. The last club or regional side was Roussillon. The last game in the UK was v england u21s but the last club was Bradford northern.

The last full lions tour to nz was 1996 but they didn't play club or regional teams. They played a few select teams. On the 1992 tour the last club or regional side they played was Canterbury.

The only tour games in PNG were in 1991 and the last tour game was against Highland Zone.

The Kangaroos last tour to PNG was in 1991.

They played 2 Tests Matches against the Kumuls but they also played against 3 regional sides.

1. Sept 29 - Northern Zone 6 - Kangaroos 40
2. Oct 2 - Islands Zone 25 - Kangaroos 42
3. Oct 9 - Highlands Zone 3 - Kangaroos 28
