Late Mail - Canberra Game

Fron the Sunday Telegraph today 25th Mar.

The Late Mail:
Coach Tim Sheens is also expectedto move Tim Moltzen to fullback with rookie Jacob Miller poised to join Benji Marshall in the halves.

Interesting, if true :crazy:finally Miller given a go at 7 and not something dumb like out on the wing :sarcasm: Moltzen, the great white hope for the No 7 spot being moved after 3 games  and Humble who hasn't done too much wrong losing out altogether.

Fun times at Tiger land :? my only concern if Miller being thrown in without Farah providing the additional option however, it could be what the Tigers need and that is a No 7 taking charge without Farah calling shots.

If the Late Mail is thru, that is:roll:

The only problem I can see is that Moltzen if he is being given the 7 role is not getting given enough time in the role to see whether it will be successful or not.

Last year Moltzen killed it at 1 in the finals for us. He has killed it in the halves previously but for whatever reason hasn't looked good just yet in the 7 role.

In saying that his defence has been good. Miller is also an unknown quantity as far as I'm concerned.

It is basically a difficult decision to make.

I could live with

1 - Moltzen
7 - Miller
9 - Humble

but I wonder if Humble's defence would be up to it - haven't seen him defending in the line before, let alone up front with the pigs...

What did he do specifically that leads you to believe that he killed it in the halves during that run of 5 games in 2009 where he was halfback? Not having a go, but I don't remember Moltzen doing anything special at halfback. I always remembered the team being successful during that period because we had a real fullback in Shannon Gallant at the back.

Stronger spine this. Takes pressure off benji, gives us a good kicker and takes any offence pressures off fulton as well.

I can't see whatsoever what Humble adds to the team. He's a passenger at the back, Moltzen has been a passenger at half. Not gonna win too many games with out a fullback and halfback. I'm in favour of the changes, but Miller must be given a decent crack.

You could be right. I'm not 100% sure but I always thought Gallant was overrated. When Motzen was in the halves we won games and I thought he was dangerous.

I don't really get Moltzen - he has a lot of skills. He is a dangerous runner of the footy and he has a great pass on him. I think at times he lacks confidence and doesn't really go 100%.

It is all the guilt he is carrying!

Let's hope miller performs better than he did last time which was very unimpressive. Whoever we end up with at halfback should be given a decent crack at the job, 3 weeks is not enough.

It really seems reactive putting Miller to half unless he is viewed as the best long term option. If he is why put Moltzen there in the first place.

I don't get it but then I think back to Johnny Cronk Morris being in the halves for so long and it doesn't really bother me that much.

Lawrence hasn't fired a shot because

a) Ellis and Blair are being played opposite sides to what fits our structure
b) Lawrence is playing with a hamstring at about 80% and a shoulder about 70%

Believe me Gronky I am not bagging Rowdy, I am one of his biggest fans.

His shoulder is a massive it just pops out at will.

We just need the forwards to roll their sleeves up and hammer.

We also need Liam Fulton to never pass the ball again. Never.

This is the real issue.

Our back especially Lawrence have not fired a shot this season due to our impotence and lack of penetration in the forwards.

We are getting owned.

This is 75% of our issues. I stood next to Woods on Friday, I haven't genuinely trained in 20 + years and he is no bigger than me! I'm not saying that he and Groat won't be good players with time, just that we need some size and experience up front now so that our backs can fire!!

This is what i don't get guys. Is it because his 80% and 70% is better than anyone else's 100%, or is it a lack of depth and there is no-one else?

Yeah this gets to me as well. Why not choose a team and stick with it.

Insanity: the process of repeating the same task the same way but expecting a different outcome.

I'm not a huge fan of moving Moltzen to any other position because I think his underperformance in part last year was due playing in three different positions week after week, but if Sheens is willing to try something different in order to get the right result and it pays off I'm certainly not going to criticise.
