Just a little motto I live my life by.
caylo said:To bad, because if you shoot for the stars and miss, the closest thing to you is earth. So should the motto be:
Shoot for the Moon, but you better not miss, because you coming crashing down to earth.
I understand the point of the motto has now changed, and become more synical, but it's physicly more accurate. :sarcasm: :sarcasm:
eloquentEEL said:Actually, missing implies that you make the distance but you're wide of the target. if you've got enough power to escape the earth's atmosphere, then if you miss the moon (and other space junk) you'll just keep going and end up going in the same direction until you do hit something, quite possibly somewhere between stars.
it's only if you don't have enough power to get past the earth's atmosphere that you'll come crashing back to earth, but that's not really the same as missing... it's just a Tiger attempting a field goal.
caylo said:we'll even if you miss the moon, you may get caught in the gravitational feild of the moon, using it as a sling shoot, and thrown back down to earth. You have to also consider the orbital motion of the earth and moon. If we are goin to consider shooting ourself to the moon, we would probably die before we reached the top of the stratusphere, if not the ozone in high altitudes would oxidies with our skin and burn us to death. So realy not point arguing about this ;-) ;-)
