HJ, That's bad news. The question must be asked - should we retain Grothe? I mean, it's been, what, 15 or so games in 4 seasons? I'm not doubting his ability WHEN fit, but he is taking up a potential spot in a 25 man squad that a fit youngster could fulfil.

I love grothey but he is and always will be injury prone. The poor bloke isnt such a warrior like his old man. But when he is fit he is one of the best wingers in the nrl and noone can argue that. Look at Johns, he spends a lot of time off the park more than he spends on it but when he does he fires. I would never ever release grothe.

I wouldn't release grothe, Injuries happen to everyone, He could come out next year and never have an injury again. I say sign him for life.

i'm sorry mate but eric gothe snr and eric grothe jnr are exactly the same. both extremely talented but will be hampered by injuries throughout their careers.

the original guru would never have played a full season....christ he was often lucky to make it through the warm up without a serious injury. how you can make that him into a "warrior" i don't know???

got me puzzled!!

Eric Junior's under contract until end 2005. If he doesn't show recovery from injury and gets on the paddock for a few more games I'd say he'd be struggling to get an extension? But it must run in the family, as Eric Snr champion that he was, was also prone to the (more than) odd injury.

Looks like Wade is now clear to play, as is 18th man Dykes. Langi will start for the rest of the season and then head to England. I have a feeling O'Dwyer, Moi Moi, Muspratt, and Mateo will be playied into qualification for Premier League semis from here.
