Apart from attendances and tv audiences? Participation is down a bit but hardly a disastrous amount. Most clubs improved their img ratings suggesting improved facilities, fan engagement and finances. GF attendance best in years. Successful end of season tests. Pray do tell me by what metrics are you suggesting it’s “at an all time low”?

I'll summarise for you, according to this interview by Eamonn McManus.

- Clubs are now losing £3-4 Million a year where as several years ago they were able to break even
- Financial Performance of the game is very poor
- In past few years, there's been a 30% negative swing in respect to the non financial performance of clubs
- The state of the game has significantly deteriorated
- The best performing club financially is currently in insolvency

Yes, RL in the UK is at an all time low!!

He’s talking bollox. Last year my club lost 300k. Nowhere near what he is claiming. St’s are in financial trouble and he’s the guy who’s leading them. Maybe Wilkins should be asking him why St’s are losing millions every year despite their crowds and stadium.

Looooool!!! Are you serious? Please tell me you're joking? Are you suggesting he's lying?

Who should I believe, the SL Chairmen or some bloke on the internet called Perth Red?

At this point I think you're trolling us

lets look at some facts shall we? Due to tv contract reduction clubs grants have reduced by £280k in 2021 and a further £200k in 2024, so McManus reckons 3/4 years ago they were making a profit and now they are losing 2-3 million due to a $480k reduction in club grant? Doesn’t tally.

Seems like clubs are also losing money in other ways, such as sponsorship for example. But hey I'm sure you know more than the Saints chairman who is from a finance background

The fact you see a loss of 300k as a positive lets me know there's something wrong with you

The number 1 priority needs to be an independent board. These clubs will run themselves into the ground. It’s not unique to SL, in Australia clubs were doing the same in league, Aussie rules and Union. If you look at Super Rugby they have had a rise in crowds, attendance and results since Rugby Australia took control of the teams.

The sooner the NRL can step in and show these flat capped dinosaurs how to run a professional sport the better.

Run with the pack

Bring them back
Wont happen while the clubs have the power to vote them out, they will always vote in self interest. How will it benefit them by having another team competing for a SL licence?

Besides, didn’t you read that report ? Apparently a team in North America adds zero value to the SL :laughing::laughing:

Didnt say it was a positive, I said its an example of why what he has said needs to be taken with a pinch of salt. But hey you do you Dr Doom.

Like I said club grant has dropped 480k in last 4 years. So if clubs were making a profit 4 years ago and are now losing 2-3mill when the revenue from TV has only dropped 480k then where's the other 1.5-2.5mill additional losses coming from?

The English game has never had tv covg like it has today so sponsors should be even more happy with the exposure they are getting.
Crowds are solid, excellent for some clubs so cant be gate taking drop offs.
So wheres the losses?
And how is it the RFL's fault and not the clubs?

Those are the questions someone needed to ask him, and pref not his ex player mate.
