Latrell is not a fullback

If we are fining people for being f**kwits, then it's a long list.

Just pure coincidence that this fake culture wars bullshit happened so shortly after the Spencer Leniu incident, I guess.

Do you think the response would be any different if a white player dropped a series of F bombs?

He's never spoken like that before on camera. Not once.

I can't help but think it was a direct response to the NRL, the media, and social media telling him to shut up for days, for simply defending a fellow indigenous man that was racially vilified.

There was definitely a deliberateness in his actions.
Yes, definitely deliberate. Doesn't excuse it though, even if understandable.

More than that - if they dropped a bunch of f bombs, said they didnt care, carried on, and then was more interested in his personal milestone than being 0-2. Its the whole package.

And IMO, the answer would be no different whatsoever because the non-care factor was the biggest turn off.

If players are being criticised for laughing with their mates after the whistle when they just got beat and appearing to not care, the blow up when someone says it on camera shouldn't surprise anyone.

Hard to say, they might get called a "larrikin" or a "top bloke"

Correct. Buzz and Dean Ritchie especially are always whinging about foul language.

As I said before if the radio hosts dropped several F bombs. Or hell MMM played the unedited Killing in the Name of at that time they would be sanctioned.

Players should be no different in that regard

Heighington apologised straight away, big difference between that and knowingly continuing to drop F bombs

There is no way a player having a microphone shoved into his face moments after the final siren should be held to the same standards a professional broadcaster.

This is a ridiculous position.

Do you read LU mate Dick Cheese is a well bombarded f**kwit. Bizarre defence

Heighno isn't even comparable to Fatrell given he caught himself straight up instead of saying "I don't f**ken care" and continuing to drop more f bombs

That is likely true.

Standing up for Ezra also wasn't the issue. It was commenting on potential punishment
Not just Latrell of course but does Abdo even go to Leniu’s judiciary hearing, something he’s never done apparently (make of that what you will) if not for those comments?

Latrell is the only openly racist bloke I see in the NRL

Yeah they are totally the same thing.

Latrell

“It’s alright mate, honestly f**k … It was s**t,” Mitchell began.

“In the first bit, just a hard game f**k, we showed what we were about. Honestly, they’re big boys, they’re competitors. No wonder why they come runner up last year so f**k, they’re building on that.

“I don’t care if I’m swearing boys, honestly.”

When talking about his try scoring feat, Mitchell added: “But I’m very happy, scored 100 tries so that’s something to celebrate tonight. Yeah, everyone doesn’t give a f**k but anyways,” he added laughing.

Cheese

“He’s [Munster] as thick as pig s***,” Smith joked.

“He’s the dumbest bloke in the world but when he gets on the field, he’s a genius. It’s outstanding. I’m glad I’m playing with him and not against him. He’s the most annoying bloke on planet earth but he’s one of my good mates so you’ve got to love him.”

Loveable larrikin Smith got into a far more heated exchange just a few minutes prior.

With the referee just about to blow for full-time, wind-up merchant Smith gave Spencer Leniu a cheeky push after the Panthers front rower's foot struck his head.

It lead to a bit of argy-bargy between the two teams, with the Smith right in the thick of it.

“I didn’t say anything,” Smith said post-match.

“I just pushed him to let him know that... I think it was an accident but still, he hit me in the head and I wasn’t happy.”

“It still bought about 30 seconds off the clock,” he added, laughing, “that was pretty handy”.

“It was a tough game out there tonight. I don’t think I’ve come off the field with this many bumps and bruises.”

And lol at bringing Heighington's one as a comparison, it was nearly 20 years ago.

You really can’t blame Latrell for thinking he is untouchable when you have people like @Canard and others on social media making every excuse under the sun for him, then dismissing any calls for repercussions as “culture wars”.

So turns out Triple M was in breach of their contract by broadcasting video footage of the interview.

Would this matter have even blow up if there was no video to circulate on social media?

It wouldn't have changed what he said, and the audio/transcript still would've made its way around.

Would a lack of video have changed things? For me it makes no difference. In some cases video can actually help if mannerisms mitigate the words. But don't think that's the case here.
