He just seriously struggles with positioning at the back. No doubt he is a force to be reckoned with in attack and can change games (and has the last few weeks) but he is potentially a big liability in defense.

Problem is the difference between his best game and his worse game is massive. Pretty much totally missing tonight but when he’s on he looks great. Probably 6th best fb in nrl in reality but media love him and souths happy to pay him silly money. If his talent matched his ego he’d be #1.

It’s fitness. Improving his positioning on the training paddock will mean nothing if he’s to buggered in a game to get to there.

I really like Latrell I said it in the game thread, he can be awesome to watch but 12 runs 90 odd metres last night according to nrl stats, it’s not good enough for a guy who is the teams biggest star and no doubt going to be the highest paid. Looking at his season numbers in terms of line break and try assists you can see what a weapon he is in attack, if he had just average fullback fitness he’d be the best player in the game imo.

All the talk of Latrell liking to sit back and pick his moments is because he’s buggered the rest of the game. If he was fit enough to have a touch or two most sets jeez he’d be incredible.
