Lay it on the line

Lot of talk goes on around here.

Let's draw a line and lay our cards down, hey?

Who thinks we'll make it past week one of the finals?

I'll even give you an out to let you out of the ridicule this question is designed to allow for come the end of the season. You can name one event that might take place that would cause you to change your mind ie you may say no, we won't unless Jamie Lyon suddenly develops some maturity and plays again...

I will say yes, if Hindy stays uninjured for the better part of the season.

And yes these posts will be used against you. Ante up, boy and girls.

I think that Parramatta will come 3rd or 4th this season. Parramatta have the players to achieve this its just getting them all on the paddock at the same time. Parramatta have Stars injuried such as Cayless, Cannings, Moimoi, Hopkins and Graham. While there are young guys ready to break into the side such as Thorman, Witt, Mateo and B Smith. If all these guys can stay fit/ develop in frist grade i think Parramatta are in with a good chance. The team gets screwed by injuires and it really sucks!

With our current injury list and inconsistent form. its too early to even guess.

At some stage Witt or Thorman should be in the team and we will need to see how the selection settles down.

Any so called prediction, at this stage, if it is positive, may only be wishfull thinking.

I'm not very confident with Brian Smith's choices at the moment. His team line-ups are questionable, and he's obviously not getting the team motivated every week. I can't see us being a consistent force this year.

If the mad scientist is still at the helm we will definitely not make it past the first week of the finals. If we don't show a bit more passion top 10 will be out of the question.

Feel free to use this against me at the end of the season. I hope you can.

I believe we can make the finals IF the injury toll doesn't worsen. I believe we can finish 6th (maybe 5th). I believe we may loose first week of the finals, but still get to week 2 because teams behind us will lose (the joys of the system).

We will likely have to cope without Hindy at some point due to SOO, but I think the boys can lift.

YES
But only if we win our next 2 games against teams I think we will be fighting for similar positions on the ladder to us after Round 26.

We let 4 points get away from us in our last 2 games we need to get them back here or Im sorry I cannot see us making it!!

I agree with Strider.
5th or 6th is my likely scenario at this stage due to our partly promising start to the season.
If we can regain our passion, which has been largely missing, we might even sneak into 4th.

I am happy for you to prove me wrong if we win the comp.
Very happy!

We're in a bit of poop.

Dropped 4 home points in the last 2 games that we would have banked on. Could prove fatal at the end of the year.

The "injuries" excuse must not trotted out. Every club has them, but they still manage. Focus has to be on the selection policy, weak goal-line defence and a one-dimensional attack.

parralight,

The reasons are rather obvious at present, as you suggested.

I'm glad the Godfather just named two of them.

I hope parakeet doesn't read your replies though, you'll both be in for a gob full. ;-)

Suity,
I just get a little bored writing the reasons down as Im sure everyone (including Parra pete) knows them.....

It was terrible watching the City Country game on the weekend and seeing how ORFORD and KIMMORLEY spun the ball along the backline... :( :(

You know if we ever lose Nathan Hindmarsh we are in for a long season.. he again carries this team - week in - week out and has done for the last two years...

He must be thinking to himself ... just how good could I look in a professionally run team like the rooters??

He would be a megastar of gigantuan proportions.....in the Bradley Clyde mould.
Ahhhhhh, for a Kimmorley or Orford.

Dont you think that just perhaps ... there might be a ORFORD or a KIMMORLEY in our lower grades just trying to get a run ???

I really dont mind Brian SMITH that much as a person but the main thing I resent about him as a coach is his playing of favourites.
- It really is the sign of a bad coach.

Indeed I do.

I think someone has already mentioned it, and I said something similar before, But if Karmichael Hunt was a Parra Jersey Flegg player, there'd be NO CHANCE he would have got a run in First Grade.

Its sad really.
As for favourites, that is plainly obvious to all but parakeet and HJ.

Suity.

I wouldn't mind Smith playing favorites if he had some really good favorites.
Some of his favorites like Hindmarsh can stay, some of his others should make way for someone else.

i've said before he obviously plays favourites, Suity (need those dementia tablets, buddy?), but as i said so does every single Coach in the comp - actually every single Coach in rugby league.

OK, make that team sports...........

for the record.............yes we will make it past the first week fo the finals. We have played absolutely crap this entire season and still sit on 50%, and inside the eight. A crap win this weekend would put us in 5th, with 9 crap games under our belt. And still 5th! All we have to do is hold this 50% til Round 20, then let rip.Top 4 finish and basic immunity from any Round 1 Finals result.
