it was a statement

all im hearing from the the ryans, goulds, hughes', tunks etc is that we should let them play for points and that is what fans want.

i think they are full of sh*t and have no idea of where the league community is

A very simplistic poll and both options are not applicable. It's not about whether they should be allowed to play for the title, it's about an appropriate penalty. Having the Storm play in trial games all year is ridiculous, it affects every team in different ways each week depending on the Storm players mindset. I believe it is also dangerous and could lead to serious injury. The Storm should have been put to minus 20 points or something like that, then they can continue playing and actually play to avoid the spoon. If they can amazingly make the semi finals from there, well it would have more to do with the culture of the club than being over the cap for an average of $300K each year for the last five.

How can we allow them to play for points with marquee players that still have clouds hanging over them?....when there may be quite a bit more to this saga than meets the eye?
Until the investigators are satisfied they have uncovererd ALL illegalities, then no bail, so to speak.
Innky, you know my opinion on this. Once their playing squad is verifiable below the cap and therefore on the same footing as every other team, they should be allowed to play for points. And not a moment before then. Make it nigh impossible for them to make the finals by starting them off on -10 or -12, or don't let them start until after round 13, but once they are back under the cap let them play for at least something - even if it is only to try and avoid the spoon. They broke the rules and they have and will continue to pay a huge price. There's no need to damage the game even further by dragging this pointless (pun unintended) season out for another 20 weeks.

i see the idea of letting them play for points but ensure they can't make the finals as a bit of a charade. the whole idea of accruing points is to make the play offs, really what would be the point of letting the get points but not enough?
So they can prove that with a squad that complies with the rules, they can still win enough games to not finish on negative points and still win enough games to catch up to the last placed team and avoid the wooden spoon. The crime is done and the punishment was rightly swift and severe. We can either start the healing now or we can start it next March. With new franchises from rivals codes kicking off in August and February when do you think is the better time for our game to get our Melbourne franchise back into playing for something? This entire question is about way more than just the Storm. It's about salvaging as much as possible from the last 12 years put into gaining a foothold in Melbourne and not just handing what's left of that legacy to rival codes on a platter.

Because that's not what the poll asked at all, read the question again. It asked about allowing them to win the premiership, not whether they should play for points. We've been through this.

It may take some time, even more than 20 weeks to determine that they are verifiable.
Once, if and when all players and coach are cleared of any wrongdoing, then they should be permitted to play for points under a guideline similar to what you propose
