Leagues Club Funding - The End of Some Clubs?

No worrie Bebeto....
A few reasons, belmore was situated in a bad area, difficult to get to and alot of residents were complaining about the ground. On top of that, there were shocking problems with crowd violence on that hill for many years, including a riot in 1997. Anyone who has sat on that hill will know what i am talking about. In general, Canterbury is in a very competitive areas. Alot of clubs are within the general vicinity of Canterbury/Belmore, moving to a growth area of Liverpool would do them much more good. I guess they are somewhat nomadic, although like St George, we have always struggled for a quality stadium....I dont know where is next, although im not much of a fan of the showgrounds....
Yeah, slater was going off his nut a bit after that labrozetta interview. In all honesty, it looked like Slater would've gone crazy in paschilidis wasn't there....
Rasputin...i lost it many a moon ago lol. But westbus...a big raspberry to them, i regularly use their so called 'service', it is absolutely pitiful. No one complain about their bus service until you have tried Westbus ;)

Fan,
What about going all the way and relocating to Northpower Stadium. There could be a vacancy there shortly.
No problem with riots on the hill, great transport, growing area, just the place for a strong club to spread the League gospel.
Cheers

Canterbury already got enough blood money by betraying league and going to Super League, and they have never been brought to account for the treacherous and illegal conduct of Bullfrog Moore in sitting on the ARL board whilst being a lynchpin in the creation of SL.
Canterbury should stay in their own area and not try to cannibalise an area that was being groomed by another team.
Northpower Stadium was destined for the Bears, they might not be there in 2002 but I believe they will be back by 2003.

Beast,
Sorry mate, I was just trying to get a rise out the Fan in defence of his beloved nomads.
What makes you confident that the Bears can get back? It looks pretty grim to me. Still I hope you make it - it would be great to have another of the originals back.
And I know what it feels like to lose your team.
Cheers

There is now some real unity at Norths between the Leagues and Football Clubs, that has not been there since the administrator was appointed in 99.
Norths have dough, plenty of it.
Gosford is a good stadium with a creduble team the crowds will be big and consisitent.
They will be attractive to sponsors, and have large memberships.
With the large junior nurseries of the North Shore and Central Coast , coupled with a core of good first graders I cannot envisage the News/NRL will resist us for long.
It will not be easy but it can be done

Beast, im not going to justify all of the bulldogs action from the super league war but since then, i think they have gone SOME WAY to healing some of the wounds. They publicly stood up for the souths cause (along with newcastle), they gladly welcomed back george piggins to his first game of rl in 2yrs and in general, have tried quite hard to lift the profile of the game. The supporters are another thing of course, but trust me, they have made a lot of effort to 'right some of the wrongs'....
Northpower wouldn't wash with me. A club that has been around since 1935, firmly established in Sydney and having a large fan base shouldn't move out of Sydney. I think they would be in the top4 for no. of supporters in Sydney (along with Parra,Saints and Souths) and moving them would be ridiculous. I know what you mean, the facilities are good and all but it would end up like 'manly's' attempt to play on the northcoast...no one supports them up there, so why would they attend their games?
Id rather see a separate Norths team at Northpower....
