Penrith rule out NRL bid for former Bulldogs forward Greg Eastwood

Penrith chief executive Mick Leary has ruled out the NRL club chasing Greg Eastwood as a replacement for departing second-rower Frank Pritchard.
A homesick Eastwood is keen to get out of his contract with English Super League club Leeds and would be a strong replacement for Pritchard who on Wednesday signed a three-year deal with Eastwood's old club, Canterbury-Bankstown.
However Leeds are seeking a L100,000 ($A175,000) transfer fee to let go of Eastwood just one year into a three-year deal with the Rhinos.
Leary said the transfer fee made things difficult and all but ruled out the possibility of the Panthers replacing one New Zealand international with another.
"Most probably not, no. I wouldn't be investigating that at all,'' Leary said.
Eastwood's agent David Riolo said his client's negotiations had been put on hold while he plays the Challenge Cup final this weekend.
Riolo said the transfer figure wasn't completely set in stone and was open to bargaining with the Super League club.
"Everything's negotiable, so we've just got to work it out with Leeds and potential suitors and go from there, so we'll see what happens,'' Riolo said.
"Hopefully I'll try and sort something out in the next week or two, pretty quickly anyway.''
Riolo refused to be drawn into speculation about specific clubs interested in Eastwood's services.
Bulldogs chief executive Todd Greenberg said on Wednesday the Bulldogs were still interested in Eastwood, even after adding Pritchard to their books.
Asked if the club were still keen on Eastwood, who has expressed a desire to return to his former club, Greenberg said: "Very much so.
"It comes down to the amount (of the transfer fee) because we're not going to be writing a blank cheque, but we're happy to negotiate on a number.''
