Leeds sign Leuluai

Leeds have signed Manly prop Kylie Leuluai on a three-year deal from the start of next season.

The 26-year-old New Zealander has made 51 appearances for the Sea Eagles in four years after stints at Parramatta, Sydney Roosters and Wests Tigers.

Leuluai has family links to the British game - cousin Thomas Leuluai plays for Harlequins and his uncle James helped Hull to the 1985 Challenge Cup final.
"I'm excited about the opportunities that are available at Leeds," he said.

"I spoke to him [James] and he said there was no better club in the UK to be joining.
"He obviously played over in England and made a name for himself and hopefully I can follow in his footsteps.
"Since he played over there I have always had an interest in the British game and especially with so many New Zealanders over there now, it is definitely a competition that we keep a keen eye on."
Rhinos coach Tony Smith said: "Kylie is a player we have monitored for a couple of years and he will be a big addition to our squad for next season.
"He is a tough character whose style will be suited to the Super League competition. He is a very experienced player who rarely gets stopped in his tracks either on defence or attack."
Leuluai will come in as another prop, Chris Feather, leaves the club. The Rhinos have decided not to retain Feather, who was signed from Wakefield in 2002, after his contract expires at the end of the season.

Sad to see him go but there are younger props coming through who deserve their chance at Manly.

On a recruitment note, Manly has;

Losses:
Kyle Leuluai --> Leeds
Ashley Alberts ---->Back home
Kane Cleal ---> Souths
Ben Kennedy ---> Retirement
Paul Stephenson ---> Sharks

Gains:
Jamie Lyon --> St Helens

Therefore surely Manly must have a little bit of $$$ to chuck at some young PL players looking for a future. Atm, "apparently" we are very close to securing a deal with Jack Afamasaga from Parramatta. Neville Costigan would be an ideal buy, only if we can get him for the right amount.
