Legs tackles to be rewarded

They are rewarded by stopping the player with the ball.
There should be no other reward, that should be it for every type of legal tackle

Gallen had a second go, in the tackle which led to a penalty.
Effectively he wants a reward for whinging louder

or a reward because the attacking team was good enough to get in a position where only one defender could make the tackle

Cordner milked that penalty
Gallen probably did hold on marginally longer then he should have but you see 100 tackles just as bad through a game not policed.
Cordner exagerated the attention he was getting from the tackler & Chechin even gave the leg pull signal after giving the penalty
that was crap
Gallen didn't leg pull anyone , & I think it was a tough penalty in the circumstances

There is a big different between milking and trying to play the ball quickly, Gallen didn't just hold on longer he made a second effort to stop Corrdner from playing the ball..

I was as surprised as anyone when the ref blew the penalty as they usually never blow penalties when its a game winner

No matter how long you give the defender, the moment a 1 on 1 legs tackler lets go he's getting caught offside.

The only way to give them a little more time is to police the ruck properly by forcing proper play the balls.

So because the attacking team produced a dominating play resulting in a one on one low tackle, they should stand there an wait for the defender to get onside ?
I don't think so

Not sure if you quoted me accidentally or not as that was nowhere near the point of my post. Not even in the same ballpark, parking lot, or even on the route to the stadium.

That's the internet for you (and old age) , its easy to misunderstand the intended meaning. Apologies for that, sounds like I might have the state wrong too :)

he didn't make a 2nd effort in any way , shape or form
cordner made it look like he did

so Corders shorts were pulled down by himself. Sorry but that didn't happen., Gallen lost the game for his team and maybe the same thing that clouds his judgement clouds yours.

Considering it takes 3 seconds from the call of held for the ball to be played EVERY single tackle, why should this be different?

Same old story, the referee decides when the player with the ball stops wrestling to get an offload . . . calls 'held' . . . counts 3 seconds before he decides if the tacklers have ceased their wrestling . . . if they haven't, penalty

If referees were as diligent in the procedure as they are in searching for 'hand on ball', miniscule knock-ons and the like faster play-the-balls might become a reality. Maybe when women referees replace men counting to 3 won't be a problem

Why do you think the storm tackle high and hold blokes up for a while before putting them on their back and getting off one by one.

1 on 1 around the legs give the attacking team an 1 man over lap...on account of the tackler being offside on the ground when the ball is played.

The Storm are the first to do most things, it's up others to interpret, adjudicate, adjust and counteract . . . even better if they act swiftly instead of two steps behind. Right now good teams like the Roosters, Sharks and hopefully Parramatta could come up with a game plan capable of beating Melbourne possibly 3 games out of 10
