Lessons Learnt from Canberra Game

IMO from what I have seen in this forum during the game a couple of things have been cemented from the Canberra game.
1. Beattie will return to PL next week and to another club next year.
2. Franze will not be resigned for next year.
3. We need to go after one top class forward to lead by example for when Stevo retires.
4. We need to buy a top quality 5/8 who can steer us around the park for when BK is out for whatever reason.
5. I think SR has got it right bringing Sully on as an impact player, and i don't feel he will fill the current void we have in the 5/8 position.

Anyone want to add anything else ??

Nope, I think you've covered tonight's inadequacies quite well!

Except: We NEED a good goalkicker!!!

Everything right Military except the 5/8, which Aitken is the definite solution. He looks good with the ball in hand and has a vision of where to run the ball, what a dummy to score, and he has a great kicking game in general play. He has to be in 1st's next week. I said after the interview with Stuey on fox this week that Stuey had a plan for Aitken, I hope he's signed with us for life.

I ahd been doubtful that Aitken was ready but I'd be putting him in at 5/8.

We learnt Sullivan is a number 9 now not a 7

We learnt Aitken can't read what to do in defence

We learnt Aitken can tackle though

We learnt Aitken is a f**king talent

All in all not bad when you consider our best 4 were not there.

And out of that four, 3 of them are consistently our best players although I reckon that other one will be as soon as he gets some quality ball.

Its actually not a completely bad thing that he played a shocker. It will turn a few clubs off him as their potential halfback. Im sure his value has dropped after this weekends game.

Thoroughly agree with most of Military Sharks and others points on what we found out tonight.

*Sullivan is definately a hooker not a half.

*Aitkin was great when he came on to play 5/8 and should be given the job next week.

* Anyone still think Beattie should be kept next year???? I hope Bickerstaff is off contract as well!

* Franze was badly missing in defence and looked like he was pulling a trailor in attack. I'd be surprised seeing that performance if we kept him.

* McGoldrick was ditto in defence but a bit better in attack. We could do alot better though. But we haven't signed him yet.

* Hilder is a poor distributor at hooker, keep him at lock.

* We were outmuscled by Wiki and co. in the first half ,badly missed stevo's enforcing. Must sign another big recognised prop rather than wasting money on Riddell. (Parra please buy Riddell!!!!!)

* Rapers tactics were very conservative in the first half. We were too predictable until Aitkin came on and added variety.

** Next week we should have 3 points in attack and kicking games;
Kimmorley = Halfback
Aitkin = 5/8
Sullivan = Hooker

Especially as Peachey looks to be gornnnne for a few weeks yet.

Pretty much agree with DS.
We cannot win the comp without the 4 guys we missed tonight.
With them some chance however slim.
Sully wasnt up to it tonight.
It doesnt mean he's not a good halfback on 1 game but he has no future at halfback with the sharks while Kimmorley is here.
Made me appreciate even more how good Kimmorley is.
Vagana's defence was appreciated.
Stevo's hit ups to get us on a roll while the opposition is not back 10 is appreciated.
Peacheys -too much to mention (alternative kicking,defence,chasing,inspiration to name a few).
I think we picked the wrong forwards for the bench at the ice skating rink but maybe this was done with games further down the track in mind.
No disrespect to the Raiders meant here because they should have won by more but you cant beat good sides at home without your best 4 players.
I dont care what Peach has done to upset the flow sign him for another 2 years.
Tonight is an example as to why we need him.
Back 3 ineffective.
