I've got it on video and I have to agree with you Southernsaint, but you fet some referee decisions in your favour which you shouldn't have got, and then you get some bad ones. It all evens out, in the ARL the year after Manly got a shocking decision with Cliffy Lions rules to have knocked opne on when he clearly didn't and that cost us the premiership.

We can't change what happened 9 seasons ago, and Manly were the dominant side over the mid-90's but it still makes my blood boil to get dud calls like that in the Grand Final!!

Going into half-time at 8-2 would've felt much better. If I recall I spent the half time break sulking in the back-yard at my parents house...

Cheers,
Ben S.

I remember having a party! My family are antti-Manly but it is tradition to have a GF party. Likewise in 1997 I was so excited during the party.

In contrast, I do remember the whole family spontaneously cheering when McDougall stamped on Toovey's head in 1997!!

 T-Ba!!

There's actually a large section of Saints fans who would have paid a motza to be in Browny's shoes that day & deliver the wake-up call to the face of The Face!! It was one of the highlights of the year for me...

As for my family, they're just bitter Souths fans still dirty over the defections of Lurch O'Neill & Ian Roberts to Brookvale...

Cheers,
Ben S.

You were you're own worst enemies that day. Roberts' fumble with green pastures ahead was particularly incompetent. And Hoppa's Jig down the line at the end put the icing on the cake :D

1997 was a dodgy year. Newcastle had been getting a few 'choice' 'borderline' calls throughout the finals series in every match. The Stomping incident was one of many throughout that finals series. Should have been a Bears V Eagles final.

Now that would've been great.
