Not since Steve Ritson has the future of Kiwi cricket looked so rosy.

Led by the best captain in the world the team has solidified and gained maturity under John Bracewell. No longer is it a resting place for first class players, you gotta work to get named now.

Seriously under done in bowling strike power the team has pulled together and strengthened their fielding and bowling attack to become a world class outfit...

look out the south africans !!

Yep, good gloveman, not much else. A Glenn Turner special.

Thankfully now in New Zealand you have to perform or else. No special favours. And if you don't, there's blokes like Craig Cumming, Hamish Marshall, Ian Butler, and a whole host of promising youngsters such as Pete Fulton and Rob Nichol preying on an opening to take your place and put you into history.

Even the likes of Chris Cairns and Daniel Vettori, long given the red carpet are increasingly under pressure from the media especially to perform.

The best thing in their game now is the fielding, its absolutely terrific with Cumming and Marshall scintillating, and their running between the sticks, again the same two marvellous. And the length of the batting. Dan Vettori now has a test ton, Kyle Mills was batting 11 and has a couple of first class tons. Only one series, but it all looks better.

Have to take serious issue with this comment. Cumming, Marshall, and Butler all got in the team despite not performing at first class level. Doesn't seem much of a trade-off, swapping international failures for players who can't even score runs at FC level.

Now that i dont agree with, Craig Cumming has eight First class Hundreds that doesnt seem much to most Australians, But i New Zealand that is alot.
Cumming also was the second highest scorer in first class cricket last year.
He has a first class batting average of 35 which is pretty good.

They were selected into a team to go to Pakistan when nobody else would. They then performed (somewhat) in Pakistan.

It is a little hard to go comparing domestic competitions. Take for example someone who goes over and scores a heap of runs in County cricket aginst what is weak oppisition.

There average is then boosted and is not a true indication as something that can be compared worldwide.

at home we enjoy playing SA, they are a very good side who enjoy touring here and that creates great match atmosphere.

should be a good tour, they are in very good form at the moment..

How can you call an domestic OD average of 18 and high score of 75 worthy of selection? Lets hope Fleming can play vs the Safs like he did at the WC.
