My concern is that you can't win every game by absolutely blowing the opposition away through the middle. Because you'll come across other teams with a great forward pack and eventually our forwards might feel the effects.
A dangerous backline (from 1-5) is usually essential to be a real contender.
The team will have to deal with this I think. I look forward to seeing what happens against the Eels.
Good post mate and absolutely agree. Premiership calibre teams need to have weapons all over the park and most importantly key players that can steer the ship.
The Dogs have proven that having a monster forward pack and a great coach won't cut it. They have the worse spine in the comp and good defences will shut them down most weeks. It's been our problem for a lot of years as well.
Our forwards lived up to expectations, we have an excellent pack, best in a long time. But added to that, Duges and Widdop were firing against Penrith and when your gun players fire, others follow. This has been missing for a long time.
Having good forwards won't win us a comp. We need much much more, but the foundations are definitely there, particularly with a star half coming next year.
