one thing that stuck out for me is the body shape of those people, all seem to have good body shape
nowdays a fair percentage of those people would be obese or approaching obese
Some of the public shots I noticed were in high-end department stores like David Jones and also if you notice, they filmed on the north shore were in them days, the middle to upper class would have looked like money as noted in the home shot with the private school lads leaving home.
If you also take note that they didn't film anywhere near any poor areas so as to smokescreen the presentation.
Anyone notice the area next to Luna Park?
Thats all resident highrise blocks.
Milsons Pt Bowling club (next to Milsons Pt railway station) is no more
Most if not all of the shipping docks have gone.
I was 8 years old when this film was made...and I've seen and watched all of the changes, some good, some bad, some indifferent go by the wayside.
But overall,it's strange to see a city that you've known for many years simply change in more ways than one.
Its like you've watched her grow up like one of your own.
Thats progress I guess.
If anyone can get a copy of an Aussie movie,"They're A Weird Mob",that gives a good account of what life was like in Sydney 1966.
Here is a link to different old maps of Sydney in the times when the tramlines were used.
There is a dropdown menu at the bottom.Select a map, then on the right download it in PDF file then use the zoom...Enjoy!
