Lima to Roosters

I have just picked up BLW and there is an article on Jeff Lima with a strong rumour that he is going to the Roosters possibly next year and that it is a done deal...

Whilst it is only a rumour, Storm will need to get Kite and Bromwich up to standard this season to cover him.

i always felt this would be his last year, especaiily after the tigers speculation. However the article states he will leave during this season which i find hard to beleive.

why? after all we have done for him

Josh, he's 27. He doesn't have that many years left in the game...perhaps five - if he's lucky. He would've only been on a decent contract since probably the end of 06, so he wouldn't have a huge amount (comparatively speaking) behind him. He could get a lot more elsewhere, and given the circumstances, he should take it. I would. He's got to think about the money after his career's over. Besides, I wouldn't want us paying overs for an aging prop anyway.

No hard feelings if he leaves - he's given his all to our club. And financially, it'd be the best for him. He can be replaced, we've got plenty of talent waiting.

IF he leaves mid-season then put us in the bottom half of the top 8 and not making the gf.

Rumors have been going around for some time now that he wants to return to Sydney for family reasons.

Mid season is hard to believe, but i reckon he will be gone end of season

What about all he has done for us as well?
He has served us very well and I certainly wont have any bad feelings toward him for leaving, as long as it is at the end of the season not mid way.
He is recently married and needs to set him and his family up for life after football and no one can blame him for wanting to do that.

My thoughts also, but if he leaves mid-season we are gone.

You are a goose, mate. It's called the salary cap and given that we are trying to sign that big blonde bloke in your avatar we need to free up some funds.

He's been here 3 and a bit years, played in 3 GFs for 2 rings and is an international. We can't afford to keep him when we have younger players who are obviously of greater priority when it comes to signing. He's not bailing on us mate. It's more to do with salary cap pressure than him "abandoning" us.

That's rugby league in the modern age. That is all.

I also read he might be there mid-season in RLW.

Major over exaggeration...he is a good prop but to suggest that our whole season hinges on him is nothing short of ridiculous. Have you heard of Cameron Smith, Cooper Cronk, Greg Inglis, Billy Slater, Adam Blair etc etc etc....so far this year he has been servicable at best.

True, to a point. But... Cronk, Inglis, Slater, and to a point Smith can do nothing if we don't have a pack going forward. Lima is a massive, massive part of that
