Lockyer admitted it was him after seeing the latest footage but couldn't recall doing it. He was probably drunk, and a lot of us have forgotten stupid things we've done while intoxicated.

Bring on the haters, but it doesn't change the fact that it was a nothing incident and not many people care.

He said prior to seeing the new footage that he won't apologise for something that he didn't do. He saw the initial video footage.

And being drunk is no excuse for illegal actions - taking alcohol out of the premises, and the contact he made. Being drunk is no excuse for raping someone, killing someone, driving drunk, theft, or any other crime. So why should this be different?

He didn't believe it was him, so he didn't want to apologise for something he didn't think he did. It's not that hard to understand. Well, maybe for you it is.

And by the way, I never said being drunk was an excuse. I said people forget things they do. No one said being drunk was an excuse. You're pulling a strings here.

Lockyer confesses, but can't recall 'tackle'

Brisbane Broncos captain Darren Lockyer has admitted to tackling a bar manager after spending much of this week denying it was him in the CCTV footage.
Casablanca Bar owner Sarosh Mehta released the vision this week which showed the venue's manager in an altercation with Lockyer and several other Broncos players on the street after the group allegedly took alcohol off the premises.
This afternoon, Lockyer told reporters that he was sorry for the incident which along with three other Broncos players who are under investigation for an alleged sexual assault, has taken much of the focus off the club's semi-final against the Melbourne Storm.
"If I offended anyone, then I apologise," Lockyer said appearing to be very sincere in his regret.
The star playmaker also admitted to not being able to remember the moment where he is seen in the footage to be lifting the bar manager.
"To be perfectly honest, I don't recall doing it," the former Queensland and Australian captain said.
Earlier this week, Lockyer told the Courier-Mail after seeing the footage on television:
"I have seen the footage and I don't believe it was me," Lockyer said.
"I don't recall any of the Broncos I was with making a tackle.
"I'm not going to apologise for something I didn't do."
He also denied claims he was drunk.
Throughout the week, Lockyer has had the support of his club with coach Wayne Bennett particularly vocal in his advocacy.
On Friday morning, Bennett launched an extraordinary attack on the media for reporting the incident.
"It showed the worst side of journalism," he said. "There was a lot of muck-raking going on.
"I'm not the keeper of your (the media's) ethics but I think any fair-minded person would say that."
The question now remains over how the Brisbane club will react following Lockyer's confession.
The Broncos have a history for sacking players for failing to meet a very strict code of conduct, with four members having their contracts torn up over the last two years.

Cheers to Locky for being man enough to come out in public. Admit his mistake and apologise. Now thats how players should behave when they screw up. Good on the man

Casablanca is full of polynesians most nights who, purely by their size, are intimidating to a lot of little white guys ... there's no way Terry (who is a prize f'wit - and I can tell you this from personal experience) would have been "terrified" by a handful of footy players when he is used to several groups of a dozen 140kg plus poly's hanging out together looking menacing.

Before I cop a racist taunt I used to run another club that was 90% polynesian and/or islanders. The islanders were always way less trouble than the average private school white guy but sadly that's the stereotype they have. Almost all over them are great guys and big softies ...

Looked at the footage and it was definitely broncos players ... the only one I could make out was Karmichael Hunt. One of them - whoever dropped the phone - was pretty smashed though!

The real issue with Lockyer is that he is the senior player in the club, getting plastered with the semi's the next week. What sort of example does that set for the younger players.

Are you serious ? He only admitted his mistake when the new video surfaced. I think Darren Lockyer is one of the greatest players ever but his stocks have gone down after this incident.

Lockyer backflips on tackle
September 20, 2008 - 4:29PM

Brisbane Broncos captain Darren Lockyer has admitted to tackling a bar manager after initially denying it was him captured on CCTV footage.
Lockyer apologised after new footage was aired last night that appeared to show him grabbing a bar manager who'd approached players about taking drinks onto the footpath on a night out earlier this month.
"(It) proves that I was the person that made the tackle on the manager there," Lockyer told Fairfax Radio.
The gun playmaker said he was unable to remember the moment where he is seen in the footage to be lifting the bar manager.
"If that's the case, you know my intentions wouldn't have been to be intimidating ... if I offended anyone I apologise."
His comments came after Lockyer earlier this week said that he had seen footage of the incident and didn't believe it was him.
Throughout the week Lockyer had the support of his club, while coach Wayne Bennett yesterday launched a blistering attack on the media for reporting the incident.
"It showed the worst side of journalism," he said. "There was a lot of muck-raking going on.
"I'm not the keeper of your (the media's) ethics but I think any fair-minded person would say that."
It will be interesting to see how the Broncos react to Lockyer's backflip with the NRL club playing reigning premiers Melbourne in an elimination final at Suncorp Stadium tonight.

At least he faced the media and fessed up. Bird hasn't, nor has the three amego's. Give him some credit. Thsi doesn't mean in anyway I condone a senior player getting over the top drunk with the boys and behaving like a twat. Yes he should be the one that is saying enough boys, go home.

wow There Aren't Enough Threads About This, Jimmy Just Had To Make Another One To Show How Much He Hates The Broncos. Great Job Mate, Except The Problem Is Not A Lot Of People Really Care!

And a lot of people really do care.
