At least he faced the media and fessed up. Bird hasn't, nor has the three amego's. Give him some credit. Thsi doesn't mean in anyway I condone a senior player getting over the top drunk with the boys and behaving like a twat. Yes he should be the one that is saying enough boys, go home.

I think it is much easier to confess to getting smashed and tackling a bar manager than putting you hand up and saying yeah I raped a girl with my two mates or I almost blinded my girlfriend.

And a lot of people really do care.

Right on Jimmy. Overall this is not about the Bronco's alone. This is about the impact of drunken stupidy resulting in media coverage that is detrimental to this game. Players in general need to smarten the f**k up. The NRL needs to get tough and if clubs wont take action for selfish reason the NRL should. Thats my opinion anyway

I see your point. I realise there is a vast difference but all in all Carney, Bird, the three amigo's etc, its a media frenzy and all BAD for RL. What a dreadful year we have seen for RL.

Oh yes what a surprise! At the start of the year I was fully convinced every rugby league player in the NRL sang in the choir on Sunday and served as lolly-pop school traffic directors on Monday morning.

Ho-hum ... I still love the game.

No club can claim moral high ground. The words of a visitor from another world comes to mind, "He who has not stuffed up at any time in their lives can hurl the first rock."

Are you serious ? He only admitted his mistake when the new video surfaced. I think Darren Lockyer is one of the greatest players ever but his stocks have gone down after this incident.

Exactly...a good player but not obviously a decent citizen when it suits ??.

Not as squeeky clean as we thought ??...

The real issue with Lockyer is that he is the senior player in the club, getting plastered with the semi's the next week. What sort of example does that set for the younger players.

Prized Fwit of the highest order

This happened weeks ago you idiot

It doesn't really bother me that they get on the piss a week before the finals. They're fit enough to recover pretty quickly, and they know how to prepare for a game. They've been doing it throughout their careers, and you hardly ever see them come out and play like busted arses. In fact, the Broncos got stronger as that game went on.

Acting like complete tossers is a different story, regardless of when it happens.

I saw the Locky video and what a complete non event.
He should have just said 'yeah it was me' all along cause he did nothing wrong.

He didnt tackle the bloke, he was farting around, the guy didnt even take a step back.

Biggest non event in the history of non events.

I would say slow news week but....

What he " should have just said " and what HE DID SAY is what it is all about. He lied and told the truth only when the new video emerged.

Why did he deny it ??...makes him look even more of a fool now.

If he had integrity then he would admit it...

Why? Because he didn't want the media making a big deal out of it, it's a catch 22.

It's like telling a white lie to your girlfriend/wife to avoid upsetting her, knowing how they can blow up.

Brisbane Lions player Joel Macdonald has been charged with public nuisance after an alleged street fight early this morning.

Police said a 23-year-old Bulimba man and a 23-year-old Fig Tree Pocket man had been arrested and charged over an altercation on Ann Street, in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley, about 2am.

The Brisbane Lions have since confirmed Macdonald was the Bulimba man involved.

The fight is alleged to have involved several people, however police said nobody was injured or required hospitalisation.

Lions spokesman Sam Lord told brisbanetimes.com.au the club would investigate the incident, but had not yet spoken to Macdonald.

"The club has advised Joel Macdonald has been charged with committing public nuisance early this morning," Mr Lord said.

"We'll be looking further into it and make a full statement after that."

He said it was not yet known what had sparked the alleged altercation, or whether alcohol was involved.

"That will all be examined as part of our investigation," he said.

"We've got to speak to the player first."

Macdonald, a utility defender for the Lions, made his AFL debut in 2004.

He will face the Brisbane Magistrates Court on October 20

Do the Broco's have a leagues club like most of the other sydney clubs?? Even if they don't if i was Bruno i'd be reserving a room somewhere stock it with whatever alcohol they require, ban single women from being there and well maybe they need to ban women period seeing the players don't mind sharing and hire a few minders to make sure that they behave.
