I thought the daily rags were taking their inside info from the Internet forums anyway? :p

I should say that I don't much disagree with the general gist of the post, but moreover the responses to it and the desperate attempts of the tools to try and differentiate themselves from other struggling clubs from previous years.

Some romantics have tried to argue that the Bombers would be a top four threat with Lloyd back in the side!

As if that's their only concern.

They do have some good young prospects, but they find themselves in the bottom four (again) for similar reasons that other clubs have found themselves there.

They are light-on for depth and lack genuine strength down their spine. They also have a weak midfield grouping and lack strong rotation options. On top of this, they are also short on leg speed across the park.

They'll miss a PP this season and will talk all sorts of pompous nonsense about how they are a club that is above such things. As a club they were one of the loudest opponents to the PP set-up a couple of years back and their fans were always talking about how they'd never bottom out like other clubs.

They could use a PP bigtime right about now, and regardless of comments to the contrary, don't think for a second that deep down the club wouldn't love that extra high rated youngster.

In her defense ... She's 15 lol

She wouldn't be able to remember what a bad scummer period would be like.

Such a shame she has to now learn it, I feel for her and all other Scummer fans I really do .... PFFT!

There was a time in the past that I would have felt sorry for the Kangaroos being so lowly, except that their fans have been equally as obnoxious in recent years with the "we'll never plumb the depths" crap.

Hmmm. I think we'd be faring better with Lloyd, as we'd have another consistant goal scorer apart from Lucas up forward. But overall not a great squad, although injuries certainly play a part in the 13 game or whatever it was losing streak

I'd rather get the spoon anyway. That way we get the priority pick and the no1 pick. We need high quality midfielders and this draft is tipped to be the best in years!

You don't get a priority pick this year .... Best you can do is picks 1, 17 & 18

Is pick 18 contingent on the side winning less than 5 games or not winning more than 4?

I think it is the former, with an old style PP still on offer if the side cannot win more than 4 games for two successive seasons.

If I'm right on the second score, it should mean that Carlton gets an old style PP if they don't win another game this year (although it may be that the two-year qualifying period starts from this season, as nobody seems to be talking of this possibility).

My assumption would be Carlton would have a good legal argument to make claim on an extra pick should they not win again.

However, they are playing Richmond @ Telstra Dome on Sunday afternoon.

I think Richmond needs to take a hit for the good of the rest of the competition.

Should Carlton not win another game and be eligible for an old style PP, then they will surely plum for Gibbs & Hansen, leaving Gumbleton to slide to the Bombers with pick 3 (I think the WA boy is in the zone as a number 2 pick, but Carlton did take a CHF type in Kennedy last year).

This would then see Thorpe going to Hawthorn @4; Leroy Jetta to Brisbane @ 5 and James Sellar to the Kangaroos @ 6.

That's how I'd read it, although it will most likely change come November.

The two year period starts as of this year.

As for the argument that we lack quality - names like Fletcher, Lloyd, Lucas, McPhee, Hird, Camporeale, Solomon, J.Johnson & M. Johnson (although the latter three have been below par this year) are all names that would find themselves in the starting 22 of any club in the league.

With a full side on the park next year, and with some solid trading - we'll be back bigger and better next year. Unlike other clubs - we don't pride ourselves on being one of the teams that consistantly props up the bottom of the ladder.

Looking forward to hopefully resume our lease over Hawthorn this weekend as well :D ;-)
