Even if Tinkler ran off tomorrow the Knights would be fine, they're an institution in Newcastle. There would probably be some scaling back but the club wouldn't be in any danger of folding.

An institution that was run on the smell of an oily rag for years. Who stored their training gear in an old shipping container. Who have struggled for the corporate $ for years.


Tinkler has revolutionised the set up of the Knights and made them look like a much better financial prospect in a very short period of time. If he was to pull the pin though the cracks he has started to fill in woud re-emerge very quickly and they would be back in the same situation they have been in before.

He's not going to be a very popualr man around town, soccer fans are not exactly known for their reservation!

Good to hear that the Knights built in some strong contractual safeguards, lets hope he doesn't decalre bankruptcy and make it null and void.

The money is already there. It is a bank deposit guarantee that he cant access.

Essentially the money is only his if/when he fulfills his obligation.

So Tinkler backs out of paying prominent horse trainers, has now handed back his A League license, and Knights fans are sprouting some $20m guarantee?

Good luck with the plane trips back to see your family Wayne.
Better ask to use it after after a W, Waaaayne.
