Who knows the actual make up our team will be this wee. I just hope Mary gives Lomax some time at fullback. It would be great if he could start in that position.

I just hope Lomax doesnt try TOO hard and bust a phoo phoo valve, I hope he just plays good but within himself as hell surely get his chance very soon......I hope the kid, Fields included just dont try TOO hard trying to carry the team but god id LOVE to see them both totally carve and spank them!

I'd like Lomax to try really hard and show everyone how good he is and how bad a judge of talent Mary and his coaching staff are. If he plays at fullback, I predict Dufty will be look for another position or another club. Maybe Dufty at five-wigtht with Field coming on to replace him of the bench if it doen't work out, might be a good move to give Dufty his confidence back. Mann to right centre.

It's actually easier defending at 5/8 with defenders either side of you, Dufty's struggles as many do (including Nighty) when they have so much open space in front of them, not knowing when to hold their speed so they don't get in front of the attacking player like he did against Smith, hence he was turned inside out. His first miss when he got burnt on the outside was holding too long.
My conclusion is, he prefers to tackle with his right shoulder, that's why he has made a few try savers on the right side only, some into touch.

As i said lomax field should be both on the field for finals .This is why mary should have started field at no 6 when widdop was out .X factors mary still doesn't get it and left it to late .No one else to blame again it comes down to the coach and planning he needs to go .New coach and staff for season 2019 after review end of season..

Widdop's a first rate defender and does a lot of mopping up- however, I agree he is not a classic 5/8- simply doesn't have the passing game. I'd put him at lock and try to convince Adam Clune who has been the best or close to the best ISP player for SGI in the last two outings, to commit to a full-time 5/8 role. That kid has an accurate, bullet pass, vision (Widdop doesn't) and can put a player through a gap, is fast and elusive and can score a try.

Field's ability to kick a field goal would have been very handy. He does have the x factor in attack but can be a liability in defence.

Can Clune kick field goals. If Clune is our best option at five-eighth then I would go for Widdop at fullback not lock and if we keep Herbert, Lomax and Herbert in the centres. Aitken and Lafai to ISP. Macdonald back to left wing and the new Figian winger to fight it out with Pereira for right wing.
