Every time I read an article from James Phelps I feel like sitting him down. Does he know he is no longer writing high school essays?

He's got an unconventional style which is off putting to a number of people but that's what Dragons fans love him for.

We've known it for years.

An example may be this

"the Dragons now have Origin players Matt Cooper and Darius Boyd, Bronx Goodwin and Michael Greenfield all coming off contact at the end of this season."

Congratulations to Greenfield for his origin jumper - i must have missed it

And as for Bronx - was he not a kiwi / maori player ? :sarcasm:

4 years is too much

He's only 24 and showed in 2009 that he's got plenty of utility value, especially in the future. However, his best asset is he's a footballer not just an athlete like a whole host of other wingers hence why he pops up in the right place at the right time. Tigers preliminary final comes to mind.

Anyway, the length of his deal may have been for cap reasons. For instance instead of offering him 3 year deal at $660K ($220 a year) he is offered a 4 year $800K deal ($200K a year) releasing 60K over the first 3 years for someone else. 60K here and there is a fringe player giving quality depth.

By the way, the above numbers are hypothetical. In reality, after scoring a double in the GF, he's worth millions ;)

how is a 4 year deal for someone who is 24 regarded as a lifetime deal that will ensure he sees out his career at the dragons.
is he planning to retire at 28 - which is the peak for most footballers??
either way - happy to see him sign!!!

you wonder about some of these journo's, anyway hope he does sign up, seems very dedicated to staying at saints, no matter who will be the coaching them.
