With Parramatta going half decent over the last 3 weeks its a shame that the 30 June deadline had to come up. With all the talk of who is comming and who is staying all the pizza and beer in the world will not undo the damage that is being created by defalted egos.

John Morris must be wondering what he has done wrong, can't see Dykes giving a crap for the rest of the season if they are chasing Orford.

Apart from a new 3/4 to replace Lyon and a few new faces in the back line i personally don't think we needed any new players.

There is no such thing as loyalty

Loyalty has been a rare commodity in League since way back in the days of Cronin, Price, Sterling etc

I can only think of a few since who i admire for their loyalty to a club
ie Menzies

The almighty dollar rules all ...

Unfortunately yes, it's a fact of life now...

But on the bright side, it's just as likely to interfere with all clubs equally, not just the Eels at this time of year.

i think what has changed is that it is now a fulltime job for people...if you were offered more money to do the sam ejob you do elsewhere i'm sure you'd jump, i know i would. Most don't have a career after playing so they need to earn the big bucks early on.....

Just my thoughts...

Fan loyalty is gone too. All these idiots saying they hope Vella leaves. A player that lives and breathes Parramatta.

Another club player is Luke Burt, took a 25% pay cut last contract just to say with us.

glad you mentioned Luke Burt dvdhntr, you just beat me to it. Every club has one or two blokes that give evidence of that kind of loyalty every now and then. Luke Ricketson at the Roosters is another...

technically, Burt's contact cut was his 2nd last deal as at the start of this year he was re-signed for 2 years along with Ash Graham

loyalty does not make you a good player

a prime example is Vella....maybe a change in clubs is all he needs

No, but loyalty makes us a good club. What example does it set for the young blokes when one of their friends and fellow teamates who's served the club for years is told he's unwanted?

That's bound to happen from time to time, especially when contracts are expiring. But what I dislike (and think effects team harmony much more) is when contracts are cut short for that reason. Unfortunately it now seems the way of the league world - and it goes both ways.

But having said that, I wouldn't be too upset to see Dykes "traded in" at the end of the year for someone capable of giving us better? So I guess I'm a hypocrite!! #-o

Or maybe the underlying problem is lengthy big money contracts that end up not being worth their value? What happened to lengthy but lower contracts that offer bonus incentives for actual ongoing achievement... Oh, that's right - player managers  Don't get me started!

And, as I hate to say it, Tallis took a pay cut to stay with the Ponies.

So loyalty is out there. Rare... but out there.
