We won both Prems and Flegg by the same scoreline of 22-18!!

I didn't see much of the Flegg game. So I'll give you a quick report on Premier league.

We started of quite well with a try by the flying Matt Gruzka from a backline movement but then the wheels fell of and Canterbury crossed for 2 trys to go in the lead at half time 12-4. It was a pathetic 40 minutes by our mob with our execution being poor, discipline being bad and falling of tackles I was so pissed at their first half performance that I contemplated an early exit. But I decided to hang out.

The second half was much committed as we attacked with venom after Cameron introduced Thorman in at Half and put Witt at 5/8. Luke O'Dwyer had a dream 10 minute spell by scoring a try breaking the line and feeding Gruzka with some quick ball. Definetly a future first grader. Prince scored the match sealer after he took a cross bomb from Thorman.

My man of the match was Luke O'Dwyer while Webster,Pai, Langi, Thorman and Armit played extremely well.

Now for the bad news!!!

There were no serious injuries However Muspratt got a bit of a bump on the shoulder but I think he'll be allright. Michael Witt was very poor in attack his kicks weren't great and didn't get involve enough with the pill in his hands. Dean Widders is another who didn't shine and seems to lack confidence at the moment.

So there you go.

any questions?

ok I'm taking it from the fact that Witt, Widders. Thorman, Pai. O'Dwyer etc all played that there were no changes to the line up at least not any major ones?

I to was there at the game. Odwyer looks like he could handle 1st grade with some strong defence and some good skill and he is surprisingly pretty quick.

Moi Moi went Ok this week he actually lasted more than 15mins at a time and when he took the ball up he went forward. Kaufusi wasn't that bad either. As eelavation said Witt was non existant, Thorman was o.k as he did set up a try with a kick. Scrappy game due to the conditions. Intresting note that Ben Green was the Bullscums half back im pretty sure he was with parra in the jesrsey flegg a couple of years ago.

Jersey Flegg a fair few big hits quite a few drop ball because of the weather. Feleti Matteo will be a star of the future he is big strong and has sublime skills and as I learnt from yesterday is contracted to us for another 2 years. Tim Smith went ok made a few errors but has a great passing/kicking game . The No6 delaney was good to with a sublime cutout ball to winger for the 1st try, Delaney looks like he will be a 2nd rower as he is pretty big for a 5/8. Another player to have a big game was Huaruaki the No10 he killed them in attack and defence.

good morning everyone!

I must say also that the conditions were very ordinary so we didn't really see both our teams play to their full capacity the rain basically brought both teams closer together or else we would of won both matches by a relatively healthy margin.

I was sitting back thinking and scratching my head about Witty and the only real conclusion I can come up up with is that his suffering from a severe dose of second year syndrome. I'm confident he will come good again but when I'm not sure.

Guys don't forget that the first grade game between Newcastle & Penrith wasn't the best quality game either. It's the start of the season, still plenty of rust in the legs. Perhaps Smith was right to leave Witt in Prem's for the start of the season?

If you remember last year Witty started in Flegg, then when he was at the peak of his game he was moved to prems and then once he continured that form he was moved to first grade. Smithy is juts waiting for him to hit his top form.

It doesn't sound like Witt got much game time in the trials.
He just needs time on the field and he'll be right. Should start to see some improvement in the coming weeks.

Does Weller Hakuri still look like a mini-Solomona? (eg a bowling ball with headgear and a ponytail) remember seeing him in a Flegg game either last year or 2002 and thinkinh that he could have been Dave's brother LOL.

I think you might be meaning Blake Green who is still with the Eels in I beleive SG Ball.

There was also a Daniel Green in Flegg last year but he was a 2nd rower

I would love to know what the penalty count in the Divy game was last night! I know Jezza and I got one awarded for a shepard. We just screamed it out at the ref, he seemed to think about it for a second, then awareded us the penalty. Back to the good old McCredie Oval days..

Luke O'Dwyer impressed me. He just seemed to be in everything. Jimmy Webster did a good job guiding boys around the park. I think Witty might be suffering a bit of "I should be in first grade so why bother performing in Divy". Actually no, I take that back. I think he was just trying too hard on the night to prove the fact that he should be in 1st's. I dunno... Just had to laugh at ex-eel Adrian Rainey getting sent off.... TWICE! The second one was for mouthing off at the ref, but all you could hear were his team mates yelling "Shut up Rainey, just shut the f**k up" Hilarious stuff.

Im not good at giving match reports, but I was there for the whole of Flegg and it was a pretty fiery game. I know once Scotty Jones got on the field there was a fair bit of push and shove from both teams. Goes to show how much I pay attention though, I thought we actually lost that game. The ground needs a score board.

One last point of interest, I noticed at least two sponsor advertisements... for solicitors!!! I thought that was rather funny

yeah, One for Hazem's lawyers firm and another for the rest of the team. :D

So was it a bit like Peachey last year who was binned then mouthed off at the ref and then got sent?
