The Revenant: I remember going to see this straight after a shitty day at work. Once work finished, I went straight to the cinema and was watching "The Revenant" 25 minutes later. I didn't expect a lot but I ended up really enjoying it. The scenery was beautiful and cruel through different parts. Im not a big Leo fan but enjoyed the film. Some complained that it was too long but I didn't feel that at all....the movie felt like a brutal adventure.

Moneyball: Apart from fight films, I avoid American sport films like the plague even though I enjoy basketball and the occasional NFL game. I found this film pretty good.

Deadpool: I told the story about this movie in the other thread. I expected absolutely nothing and it delivered deluxe. Loved it yet still haven't seen the sequel.

Django Unchained: I liked the movie but didn't fall in love with it.

Her: I consider myself a fairly knowledgeable movie lover with a fairly wide range when it comes to taste. Yet, the very first time I've heard of this movie is when I read about it in this thread. It sounds very intriguing though with a great cast.

'Her' is amazing. I whipped my top 30 list together pretty quickly because you can dwell on it for ages, and 'Her' came in at 12th for me.

But it deserves better and will likely only rise higher in my mind over time.

It's such a beautiful movie that captures the sense of loneliness and the inate human desire for meaningful connections so well.

I suppose it gives off a similar vibe as Lost in Translation in that regard, which is one of my top 5 movies of all time.

Scarlett Johansson coincidentally is in both. What a gorgeous woman.

For me the Revenant is why Cinemas exist. Whilst it would still be watchable at home, you couldn't replace the experience of this on the big screen.

The most fun I have EVER had in a movie theatre.

Or at least since I saw Jurassic Park as a 7-year old kid.

Those are the once in a generation movie going experiences you live for.

100% agree. Max Max :Fury Road is one of only three movies that I've seen at the cinemas twice....incredible movie and an absolute feast for your eyes. "Teminator 2: Judgement Day" and "Get Out" are the other two movies. All three movies had that "WOW!" factor.

Fury Road & the Revenant are actually no.1 & no.2 on my list.

Both were amazing big screen experiences and the epitome of "film as a visual medium".

I'd put "1917" up there in terms of an excellent visual experience. In terms of cinematography, clearly the best movie I've ever seen. Scenery was incredible as well but not quite as good as "The Revenant". The one shot technique was an absolute masterstroke. Definitely a big screen type movie.

In terms of the quality of movie, I have "Mad Max 2" ahead of "Fury Road" but not by much. "Max Max 2" had a stronger bleak atmosphere, better supporting characters and villains. I thought Mel was better but I acknowledge Hardy is a much better actor. As for visuals and stunts, "Fury Road" is all over "Mad Max 2". Furiosa is also a great character.

When the crazy guitarist on the mobile sound system scene happened I totally lost my shit. Just applauded like a fan girl at the sheer awe and creativity of what I was witnessing. Miller is indeed one bad ass old dude.

Best part of the movie

None of the sequels caught the rawness of the original. 2 was pretty goid though.

This is good. Never heard of Her, so I have a new movie to watch already from this countdown. Although I'm not really a fan of Lost in Translation.

I don't get the Lost in Translation comparison other than Scarlett Johansen.

I'm not a huge fan of all of this lot, actually find two of them to be hugely overrated, two I think are brilliant, and one that it's surprising I don't love it more and I haven't really rewatched it more.

Overrated

The Revenant: I didn't mind it, thought it was ok but thought the narrative let it down. Leo is better in other roles.

Her: I'm not a huge fan of Phoenix's style of acting. I know people like to call it immersive and naturalistic but I find it un-naturalistic. I don't find him unwatchable though, I just don't really get immersed in the characters. I never thought Brando was anything other than Don Vito Corleone, Stanley Kowalski, Jor-El ;), or that camp Nazi officer in The Young Lions - but I can always see the strings being pulled with Phoenix. Like The Revenant, I didn't dislike it, I just don't love it like others do.

Should Love More

Django Unchained: I think I've only seen this once whereas I've seen all of Tarantinos other films multiple times. I loved it when I saw it but have never been tempted to see it again, whereas I've seen Inglorious Basterds multiple times and saw Once Upon ... twice in cinemas. Might give it a Corona lock down rewatch!

Brilliant

Moneyball: Great movie based on a great book, and effortlessly rewatchable. Lots of good performances too.

Deadpool: This was just an enjoyable movie watching experience, it was just plain fun. I really liked the sequel too.

I haven’t seen Her yet but it sounds interesting.

I really like all the rest.

The Revenant - Awesome visuals. Hardy very good as the bad guy.

Moneyball - Loved it. Not a baseball fan but I really liked seeing that side of the business.

Django - I’m a QT fan and this delivers.

Deadpool - I usually avoid comic book movies but a mate recommended and I really enjoyed it. But I have to make a point of this. MORENA BACCARIN. Seriously, hold all of the phones! Not since Kelly Le Brock in Weird Science have I had an actress tighten my shorts like Morena Baccarin. Good gravy does she boil my potatahs.:heart_eyes::heart_eyes:

I'm assuming you hadn't watched Firefly? I suggest you binge it as a corona lockdown treat.
