good to see the old Penrith Canberra niggle going strong!

Good on Canberra fans for backing their team - the squad looks a couple of years off it's peak though, I'd be quite surprised if they made the 8

Not sure why this has turned into a Raiders vs Panthers crapfight.

We're happy Elliott has moved on as the club was stale, you guys are happy to have him. Sounds like win/win to me.

As long as the Raiders move forward this season i'll be happy. We've just been mediocre the past decade really and never built towards anything. Now is the time to do it.

Pfft. Try having gone from Premiers, to top 4.... and then dropping instantly to outside the top 8.

We've got the same core team. We need a new coach with new ideas. Lang was great. But the game has changed a lot since we won it. Big forwards are less important. At any rate, Elliot has given us hope. He has slimmed our pack down. He has given our players confidence that they can win. He himself is confident we can win. He has gotten a player that had a lot of potential to finally pull his finger out (Rooney).

Like the Raiders, our team is looking like it will peak next year rather then this year. I still think we're going to make the top 8, but not really be up to the standards of the Dogs, Storm, Broncos, etc.

On paper,IMO the Panthers look much stronger than the Raiders and I expect them to finish much higher up the ladder than the Raiders.

But footy is a funny ol game....re Tigers 2005.

thats the thing, i will admit the raiders are one of the weaker teams on paper but they are not by far the worst team on paper like many journos and bookies have stated. Look at the titans, if they lose prince and bailey for extended periods they are royally f**ked. If the panthers lost gower and wesser they would seriously struggle. Same with knights if johns and buderus get injured. The only teams that can cover for those sorts of losses are brisbane, storm, bulldogs, dragons and to a lesser extent the eels.

id argue the panthers arnt even that much stronger then us on paper
but worth noting, on paper the dragons have apparently been premiers for the past 3 years
i love the elliott quote claiming his backs saw ball
hilarious, the only ball they saw was from hooker doing scoots

i recall countless sarcastic cry's from the army faithful each game, which went along the lines of "way to go boys, one off the ruck, that'll fool em!"

Gower,Lewis,Rooney,Wesser in the backs......

Clinton,Pritchard,Priddis,Puletua,Waterhouse,in the forwards.....

All would be walk up starts into the Raider sides and easily outpoint(on paper and on the field) their opposite Raider opponents.

Elliot will enjoy having FAR better cattle at his disposal this year IMO.....he has had very little to work with in the past and IMO the Raiders have(in his period as coach) consistently overachieved.

What has clinton, puletua, waterhouse, lewis or rooney done since 03-04?
2/5ths of f**k all is what, even wesser has not been near his peak.
Puletua is past his best, clinton and waterhouse are one year wonders, lewis is inconsistant at best and rooney is flat out rubbish.
priddis, gower and pritchard ill give you.

penrith is a much more talented side at this stage than canberra. they were very stale towards the end of last year, i think elliott will make them better.

I get your point but wouldn't that mean that 3/5ths of the time they weren't doing f**k all?

sir, 3/5ths of f**k all, is still f**k all. Its like multiplications of 0
doesnt matter what you multiply it by, the answer is still 0

As if any of the blokes mentioned wouldnt get a start.....

Raider fans would be wacking off as one if they could snare someone like Wesser....Puletua,or any of the blokes mentioned that have all repped and won a GF......

Wesser better than Goodwin/Chalk whoever.
Lewis better than Dobson
Rooney better than Frawley.
Puletua better than Lars......or any other nearthal you have.

You can froth at the mouth all you like......to anyone other than you and a few of yer cro-magnon mates,Canberra,on paper dont match up well against anyone. They are a bunch of kids and some offcasts that have been given a feresh start. And who knows, they may well overachieve and prove plenty wrong,as they have done in the past.

Thats why peeps arent rating them and bookies have them long odds, its not rocket science......take of the green goggles and look again.

Have you even seen Dobson and Goodwin play? Because if you haven't then you have no basis for comparison.

In all honesty I'd take TLL over Puletua any day of the week.

Yeah......Id prefer two blokes that have never played first grade over two seasoned reps.

Green goggles..........

Dobson and Goodwin have their whole careers ahead of them. It is a case of green goggles for Canberra supporters because we've seen what these guys can do unlike you just making blind assumptions.

I haven't missed a Knights vs Canberra game for a few years now and always turn up to watch the lower grades, i must say they do have some gun juniors who just need a bit more experience before they are established NRL stars.

I believe they will be a top 4 side between 08-2010 and will be in at least one grand final in those years.

I've noticed they've been very smart in tying these juniors up to long term contracts. I just feel thney need two players too really boost their leadership. If they could sign two players - a forward in the Luke O'Donnell mould and an experienced back (can't think of one) they should press for a title if Henry produces the goods.

Ive been listening to the Raider boys wanking on about their great juniors that have amounted to nothing for years.

PL and first grade-------big difference.

Matt Gaffa anyone........
