So who would be interested.........

We don't need to be rushing into anything.
I'm sure we can get a few people hooked for it.

Put your name down and any suggestions/enquiries you have.

I think Macca has volunteered to be the "organiser" of the Punters Club.:D

I have? More than happy to help with it.

Couple of issues.

* Would need to set up an online account with one of the betting agencies. Would be best if only the one person has access to it. We all may see ourselves as good people, but you wouldn't want a situation of having say 10 people with access to it and money going missing. So you'd need the trust in one person.

The agency we use could be voted on taking into account who tends to give the better odds, able to do a deposit into it etc. Then you'd need to work out how to keep track of who has put their money in each week. To start with anyway, as we'd be planning on winning and punting with our winnings in furture weeks :D

* The issue of how to select out bets. Voting on options may not be the go. First off we'd need to come up with options and not everyone is going to see eye to eye. And if you got with the most favoured pick, there's every chance we'll always be betting on favs.

* I'd prefer to see it start off with a small ammount, say $5-$10 each to see how smoothly it runs. Hopefully a winning streak to start with and we can up out bets to $20-$25.

* Everyone needs to have input and needs to be happy with everything from the start. Guidelines would need to be made from the start and stuck to no matter what along the way.

Will post more if I think of any...

One more thought, we best check with LU to make sure we are allowed to do this. There is money involved and a trust issue.

I have the same feeling. I asked someone to have a look at it.

Another issue would be wether it's on sport or horses.

Sorry guys.... hold your horses. I had a quick glance at this thread and I don't think its possible. I'm on the hop right now and will read more later, you'll get a final decision today. But don't get ahead of yourselves just yet.

Thanks Willow.

No rush at all mate, it was something that came up in another thread and appears that a couple of us were thinking about it for some time. Probably as a result of the tipping comp we are running.

Pun intended with - Hold your horses?

If LU dont allow this which would be more than fair I am sure that via email we could sort something out.

And we wouldnt have to vote isnt the system everyone has a turn and they keep on going til they loose, then moves onto the next person?

Not to sure how it would be monitored ect...... But I'm interested if someone wants to take it upon themselves.

It should be kept off the forums and out of the view of the general public imo.

Children of all ages have access to these forums and I don't thinks its right that we are seen to be encouraging gambling for money.

Having said all that, it may still be posssible (members only forum ?).

Just my opinion, I'm sure admin will respond with a decision.

Yeah, I don't imagine it will be allowed. Money and trust issues can be a problem if sh*t hits the fan. Shouldn't second guess, but we'll probably be told to do it off here (and via email) but they don't want to know about it :D

Yeah most Punters Clubs do it on a rotating basis. Jug mentioned in another thread though somehting about voting on selections.

That's a major issue. Everyone would be putting a tremendous amount of faith and trust in someone they have not met.

Lets wait and see what LU come up with first.

Anyone mind if I lock the thread till further notice? Bad luck, I'm doing it anyway

Yep. For second then I thought that one had bolted.

There was some debate in just agreeing to having this forum in the first place, so we naturally want to keep a firm grip on the reins.

But forummers have been quite good with the guidelines - its definitely one of the better forums and 'low maintenance' from an Admin's point of view. I can see you're champing at the bit, so we'll put it to further discussion with Mods and we'll see if we can come up with a winner.
