He was very personable fellow, wife and I happened to stay in same hotel as the team on one of our trips to the Gold Coast. We were at breakfast I had a Panthers polo on, he came up and said hello, asked whether we were at game, said we were travelled up from home. He thanked us for our support which was kind of nice. He had his two daughters with him, but went out of his way to have a quick chat. Post coaching he established a pretty successful leadership speaking company. I don’t know whether he still does the gig but it was certainly a going concern for a while.Purtell in the backrow for the first time and it was a final! Elliott was REALLY bad. Any member of this forum couldn't do worse.

There’s a lot of reasons why people fail, most coaches in our game fail, very few achieve premierships or sustained success. He does seem like a great bloke
I really turned on him after the famous pic of him hanging himself with his tie. Well more on the club. He was obviously not up to the gig at that point and yet we didn't sack himThere’s a lot of reasons why people fail, most coaches in our game fail, very few achieve premierships or sustained success.
It’s ancient history now, I thought when he came to the club, he could have delivered good things, but it just didn’t happen. Not sure it was entirely his fault. There were other issues at the top level that probably didn’t help him.
I tend to think the whole neck tie thing, was a rather endearing moment of his reign.I really turned on him after the famous pic of him hanging himself with his tie. Well more on the club. He was obviously not up to the gig at that point and yet we didn't sack him
