Might as well start a topic since he will be talked about all season.

Not a bad first up effort from Brooks. Show some nice touches in attack but plenty of room for improvement as you would expect.

His defence was a bit suspect and will ensure he is targeted every game this year but I liked the fact he never shyer away from the contact and kept trying to make his tackles.

No 19 year old half is going to have good defence so that will come with experience.

Probably rambling a bit here but a good building block from Brooks today

Its going to be an up and down year for him. Another offseason in the gym will serve him well. The way he is getting owned in defence hopefully shows people that Moses is not ready for grade this year, he is smaller than Brooks.

as soon as Fulton went out Brooks disappeared. Brooks can't be dropped or benched as he'll need to build confidence back. he will have terrible games and great games but the Tigers need to stand with him.

Good first effort.

Let down by his inside man a lot. Patterson left him posted so many times and for the most part he coped well.

Easiest way to look at it is he had virtually zero off season

Very true. And Danoz thats a good point about Moses
I would hate to see him get smashed and lose his way. If he is as good as they say I can wait. This is where I wish Moltzen was fit - he would offer more than Anasta at 6

Edit - wrong thread

But on topic, the kid had talent and a footy brain. We saw that last year. It will come and he will shine.

Playing his first game in Wests Tigers colours since making a move from Penrith over the off-season, Blake Austin was the star of the show — finishing with three tries for the match in the 20-point win.
gronk, are you there? what did you think of Austin yesterday?

He's bigger than Moses, more experienced than Moses and maybe would be the better option.

Our 6 and 9 played like crap, our overall defence was a joke and we barely provided any go forward. Even the best halfback would have a struggled.

I wanted him there in the first place tbh and nothing has changed for me.

Kicked a effortless 40/20, provided real direction and poise.

Defended a bit on the wing but that was to save being worked over and gassed out more then anything

Potter was out there watching so hopefully he was impressed though I think he will stick pretty solid for the first few weeks

I reckon we need Moses out there. Brooks needs some support and Anasta cannot provide it.

Moses need some more time, him and Brooks is the future.

I have said since we brought Blake Austin he should be in the #6. He offers a lot more than Braith does at this stage of his career.

Anasta was utter garbage. How anyone thought he was going to somehow improve over the off season is beyond me. He was finished last year, this year he is just a joke. I wanted Austin from day 1.

Oh and Patterson moved liked an 80 year old. Worst game I've seen in a long time.

If we let the Dragons run in 40+ points I shudder to think what the rest of the season holds for us.

The intention was always that Fulton protect brooks by standing inside him.

Thompson and Patterson were exposed as inferior edge defenders once Fulton went off.

I never used to like halves defending on the wing but I think the high ball will be used a lot less this year (because of the 7 tackle rule) so there may be merit in putting brooks out there

Did anyone notice Anasta stepping back from the play as if hiding from the dummy half in the first half, from that moment on i knew we were in trouble. If he is reluctant to show any leadership or direction what value if any is he to our cause ?

Anasta picked up a foot or ankle knock in the first half. He was hobbling right in front of me. If Austin travels north this wk id suggest it may be as cover for Braith
