Luke Lewis 2018

The way Lewis is playing at moment we need him for 2018.

Its not just for his skill as backrower, we will also have Jack Bird going, both play right side, getting another year out of Lewis would enable us to bring through the new right centre more easily, having both of them go, our right side defence would need a fairly big restructure

Gal would qualify for the pensioner discount on the cap wouldn't he?
Is it $300k or something like that?

Yes. Need him. He will even take a cut for one more year without having to move house etc ect.

He isn't playing again to make a pay day

Yep to LL, yep to Gal. Leaning towards no for Heighno, because I don't want all 3 to go at once, but for sure keep him on as a trainer or something. He's helping out a bunch of surfers now and pretty highly regarded in the fitness stakes generally I think.

Apparently Lewis has ruled out retirement for next year and wants to go around again his form warrants it.to be honest I think Heino's form warrants him Going around again if he wants to.

Too early to think about any of these oldsters. As Gal said in the presser he wakes up some days and is definitely thinking retire and the next week he's thinking play on.

Gotta get them through another 20 games first.

Results will make a difference as well. Back to back might be too big a chance to go out a winner. The reverse might also apply. Blah, blah, blah. Too much water to pass under Tom Ugly's.

Lewis - Absolutely
Gal - Absolutely but needs to accept a fairly significant drop in salary
Heighno - Depends on the $... If he's cheap, yeah... If we can get better quality for the same money, no...

Cant keep all 3. Gal and Lewis are no brainers. Heighno no thanks. New blood needed so we aren't replacing all 3 at once.

Exactly. Ask them in the middle of July playing in freezing conditions with the arthritic joints playing up.

On current form Lewis is playing exceptionally well as is Gallen and they could go on. However, sometimes players can get old quickly.

Need to manage the transition with a number of experienced forwards moving on shortly.

Keep Lewis but remember , he is not that far off a knee injury. Heighno and Gal should go for their own health, Gal should come on as an assistant of some kind. Capewell could be a hard running center who can offload and later on move back to second row as he matures. Latimore needs more confidence pills so he can think about an offload, but looks good. The team has become a very good unit that has growth built in. We should be able to go back to back and three in a row . Looking at the comp , I only see Storm as real competition.

Lewie is a no brainer if he stays healthy this year. Think its best to stagger the transition so would give Gal one more if he's keen and let the cut snake go. If Gal decides to call it...give Heino one more. In other words keep two out of 3.
