Lol at the dowplaying of Luke Lewis leaving the Panthers, he has been probably your best all season.

he is your best player imo by a mile apart from civo, and probably been your best all season, Lewis has great defence, great attack, and has versatility to boot.

both your halves have woeful defence, Jennings has been dissapointing this year, Civo is well past his best, but still a solid player but has nothing on what Lewis had to offer in the long-term future at your club, after all he is only 24.

bad decision to let him go.
The bolded text about sums up you knowledge of how the Panthers players are doing. Petero Civoniceva has been f*cking excellent for us.

If you watched all our games this season, you would see that Petero Civoniceva and Michael Gordon have easily been the 2 best players so far.

Followed closely by Frank Pritchard and Tony Puletua who have really lifted since Petero Civoniceva came along. Luke Lewis has missed too many games, but he has been top 5 in the ones he has played.

Have to agree that Petro's results this year prove he is still class.

Almost definitely the signing of the year so far (although arguably counterbalanced by the fact Wallace was allowed to slip away so easily).

If Wallace was as good for us as he is the Broncos, i would agree. Wallace has become a classy player because of the team around him and having arguably the best coach in the NRL. As much as i hate to say it, our club just wasn't stable enough for him to shine.

Petero has brought some stability to the club. We're still a bit rough at the moment, but hopefully by the years end, he will have all our forwards playing with as much enthusiasm as T. Puletua and Pritchard are playing with now. T. Puletua has improved out of sight since last season.

I'm not sure where your information is coming from. This is from Luke Lewis himself:

Souths did well to beat the Doggies though. Looks like they're going to be stuck with Brett Kimmorley. :p Even on a bad day Lewis is a better player then him.

It wasn't the money, but rather the length of the contract that was the deciding factor.

Its nice to see the panther boys here but I reckon that they are close to going red with embarrasment and green with envy!

Lukey Lewis will soon take his place at South Sydney.

And by fug, he's a good signing.

those who think lewis has been penriths best all year are kidding themselves... he has only just really came back with 2 good games... but like others have said there forwards are really the ones making the others look good atm... and that goal kicking winger has been there best back imo...

but lewis still is a good signing for souths, we really need him...

That winger is Michael Gordon. Seriously underrated player.

But if it weren't for Petero, we would be sitting in dead last IMO. He has helped Priddis, T. Puletua and Pritchard improve their game by so much. Tony Puletua is almost as good as he was back in 2003.

Agree with you 100%. Petero is having the same effect on the Panthers as Roy had on the Bunnies last year. It is amazing the difference that a quality forward with a high work rate makes to a team. If you guys manage to secure Fitzgibbon next year as well, then you will have a very good year. He and Petero would be the kind of foundation that you could build a team around. The Roosters won't know how much they will miss him until he is gone IMO.

I originally heard 275K when we first signed him, but I read an article that suggested 250K, which is not overs, based on his current form.

Where to play him next Season though ?, we signed him to be in the backline, but his form at halfback has been sensational for the last two weeks, he can also play five-eighth or in the backrow.

id suggest we start him where we originally wanted him, In the backline, and see how his form goes there.

I honestly think the Souths would be best off running with:
6. Luke Lewis
7. Craig Wing

Would add stability and experience to your halves.

Whatever we paid certainly won't be classed as Overs when he gets a call up for Origin 2 and 3. The way things are going with injuries and the like, it is very much on the cards. I was a bit worried about him when we signed him up. Thought he may have been past his best, but he is proving to be one of the most versatile players in the comp atm. All he needs to do is find himself in the front row or at fullback before the end of the year and he will have played everywhere ;-)

Agree, but I would love to see
3. Luke Lewis
6. Craig Wing
7. Matthew Head

I think that if we could sign Head and hang on to Ndaira for next year, we could have a team that could push for top 4. The beauty of that combination is that if you lose Wing or Head at some point in the season, you know that you can choose between Lewis, Luke or Ndaira to slot into the halves.

The way the Tigers are going atm with Head, I wouldn't be surprised to see him sign elsewhere very soon.

Lukes contract is for 300k a season for 4 years as a panther fan i will tell you he is worth every cent of that money. So far this year he has played inside and outside center lock 2nd row 5/8 and now half back. He is one of the few players that have left that i am sad to see go

On the weekend in a radio interview he said that he was enjoying playing different roles as they offered him a challenge and kept him sharp. He said that playing the same position all of the time can lead to staleness.

He said that he was looking forward to coming to Souths but at the moment, him and the panther guys were enjoying their footy and taking it week by week.

Pretty good for week to week!

As Mob says, he's a good signing. The sort of solid guy we need to get through the tough ones.

Theres a lot of crud on the market, but hes fair quality.

As Ive said, the whispers from Penrith say that he will slot into the role of half-back at Souths.
