I've been a season ticket since 1988 and he is the worst defending halfback we've ever had.............comon get real.

Does that go along with the worst defending backline in history? Seriously, give the guy a chance!

He played solid tonight, not poor at all.

You cannot expect him to produce miracles and magic every game. Rather him play consistent solid footy than inconsistent hot and cold crap.
No id like him to do more than just shuffle the ball out to backs..take then on at least a few times in the game..have a go instead of playing in a dinner suit

sooo youd like him el?

Bulldogs fans were exatic before he resigned with Newcastle. Any team and their fans would love him. He has a great future in our game.

Point taken there, Im understand what you mean by that.

He did seem to just be the train switcher. He would receive and then pass almost immediately. I cant remember him taking on the line once today.

Although, he did throw a few good balls to put players into space. eg. Sargent.

Yes, he might have been able to tackle, and so will Walshy when he puts some more kilos on. Also, next year, he'll be behind a pack who actually want to be here. Give the kid a fair go.

ok i think that if he gets behind a more dominant pack of forwards where they are actually going forward then perhaps he will do more..perhaps we stil have visions of johns rippin n tearing from the 10m line out..and he is small..just have a go more and mix up the plays cause at the moment its too easy to defend the man outside of walsh instead of having to worry bout what walsh is doing

those of you blaming walsh for todays effort have no clue about football whatsoever. i'm not even going to bother going into it.. if you don't understand the concept by now then no amount of explanation is going to help.

Yes, let's all blame Walshy who didn't even think about being in first grade at the start of the year for a whole team (minus kurt gidley, <3) playing like sh*t.

After the game i knew a thread like this would pop up. And i think it is ludicrous that we are blaming a 20 year old halfback for our problems. He had was given no space by his forward pack to weave some magic, and it is tough steering the team around with no five-eighth, yes i am saying Bailey is not a five-eighth. He certainly has some ball skills but he is a backrower.

And seriously, after his first few games of first grade we were praising this bloke and saying that he proved a lot of his critics wrong. And now a couple of games later in the season and we are saying this guy is a no hope. Some people on this board amaze me.

Walsh has been looking more and more flat as the weeks that go by, then again so is the team.

IMO he is just struggling with First Grade physically and mentally atm. But I think Walsh is and should be our 7.

Although id like to see more of Dureau. But yeah I probably would say his defence is worse than Walsh's.

everyone is forgetting that walsh and mullen combine superbly due to the fact that they have a long history playing together.

i think roopy said it best - walsh and mullen are greater together than the sum of their parts.

Oh wow...some of the most geniused posts I have seen in this Knights forum this evening, and repeated ones at that!!!

Leave the kid alone, he is trying to produce something in one of our worst lineups ever, PARTICULARLY with no roll on from the forwards and you rip into him like this. He was ok today, in fact I don't think too many proper first grade halfbacks with ten times his experience would've done better today.

You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Hes got some real problems with his game but hes not the reason that the teams going like a busted.

Theres plenty of better paid, more experienced players in that team which are going worse.

He does however need a massive off season to iron out some glaring problems or hes not going to have much of a FG career.

Never seen so much PMS and bitching in my entire life.

Talk about showing pride in your jersey, and you're all turning on players and making excuses. Some of it is pathetic.

He had some nice touches today. But frankly he may be making mistakes, but he's 20 has played 12 FG games looks to be constantly hampered by injury, and is surrounded by nuffies with the only genuine kicking option on the park. Of course he's going to struggle from time to time. He needs Mullen outside him and an offseason behind him, oh and a team around him.

well how else will the kid learn if he no one tells him..defence< long kicking game and mix the attack up a bit..pretty standard stuff for a halfback

If it was that black and white you'd be out there winning the matches 100-0 on your own.

Clearly there is more to a sport than that.
