Lussick signs with the Eels
The Pirtek Parramatta Eels are pleased to announce the signing of promising young prop Darcy Lussick who will join the Club on a three year deal from next year.
One of the games brightest young prospects, Lussick today spoke of his excitement at playing with the Eels from 2013 onwards.
The 22-year-old had attracted strong interest from rival clubs but said the program and future recruitment plans being instigated by coach Stephen Kearney at the Eels stood out.
Lussick said he was also looking forward to linking up with his younger brother, Joey, who is part of the Eels SG Ball squad.
I was really impressed with the plan Steve Kearney and Peter Nolan have in place to turn the Eels around and Im excited to be part of it, Lussick said.
For me it was tough to leave Manly because Ive loved every minute of my footy there and I am grateful for everything theyve done for me.
But from what Ive seen at Parramatta I think Ill enjoy my footy there and although they arent getting the best of results at the moment, I think theres some really good times ahead for the Eels.
Were a close family and for me and Joey to be playing at the same club is also a great bonus hopefully one day we can both be playing first grade for the Eels.
For me, all I want to do now is focus on playing my best football for Manly and finish this season on a high.
Lussicks signing comes on the back of Ben Smiths recent re-signing with the Eels as well as a trio of emerging young stars in Ken Sio, Matt Ryan and Joseph Paulo.
Coach Kearney said Lussicks decision to join the Club was a significant endorsement of the Eels long term plans.
Results on the field have been tough to come by this year but whats positive for us is a young man like Darcy Lussick, who had the opportunity to play at a number of other NRL Clubs, has chosen to come here and is genuinely excited about what were doing here, Kearney said.
Hes a young player with plenty of ability and were looking forward to having him on board from the 2013 season onwards.
