Perhaps the worst ref performance I have seen in one of our games this year.

First half he gifed the knights first try with two piggy back off side penalties, despite sully clearly catching the knights markers off side 2 minutes before whilst on attack, Isemonger threw his hands up in the air at the ref pleading for the whistle .

Then the ridiculous penalty he nabbed Sully for "leaving the mark" Lyons has no control in this area of his game as shown early in the year against the eels, the tackler fell off suly as he hit the ground and sully had every right to run on, he made a break and looked like scoring, 15 metres up field Lyons blew the pea and penalised Sully for leaving the mark, Bad bad call.

To make it worse, the knights scored in the second half after being allowed to PLAY ON from exactly the same situation.

Laurie Daleys dispicable commentary bias towards the knights all game only made him look the goose when taking the knights side on both calls, Smith correctly felt the sharks were hard done by.

We were hard done by, but it's probably Karma as we were gifted the same liberty against the Eels. Bottom line still stands however, Steve Lyons is just, well, dead set sh*t! :|

so they can go a whole set back during play, but when a try is scored and its up to the video ref they can't? makes a lot of sense.

Lyons is f**ked. I hope we never have him again. The decisions he made gave the impression he had something riding on the Knights to win. Although we were a bit ill-discilpined it certainly didnt go for both sides, this being highlighted with Sullivan not being tackled and playing on penalty and the non-penalty when Newcastle did the same thing #-o . One word sums up Lyons, DISGRACEFUL

ducks eye view

duckclaimer: yes Mr Lyon was terrible

however, the penalty for the Mr bird tackle was a turning point in our favour.

1) gave us a free 60 metres when we needed it with the Knights on a roll with the momentum in their favour.

2) it fired the players up for the final 10 whatever minutes

3) Mr bird is in a little bit of trouble imo - yea good hit, but poor technique in that the cardinal sin was committed i.e. a hand between the legs

There is little video evidence too, but I agree that it actually gave our boys a FREE set upfield, we would have had to work out off our line and get a good kick away to get back down to where the penalty was given.

He smashed him in a beautiful one on one tackle IMO......

WTF??

Not to mentioned that play on call when that Knights player was tackled....

I'm baffled :?

My thoughts exactly. Did Smith & Daley have a bet on this game?
Smith was very good.
The only call Daley got right was the non-tackle on the Knights 13 before their try.

crap

thats all that needs to be said. Reminded me of the days of old when we were on so many rubbish calls it wasnt funny. Remember the game late in the season in 2001 when we played the dogs and they got that bullshot try right on the bell. Peachy comments after the game to the ref were to the extent of "enjoy premier league next weekend"

yes Mr beekershark, and the timing couldn't of been better

not sure if my memory is right on this, but was the set the Knights had from the penalty the one where Mr M Gidley knocked on just over halfway on the 3rd?

not 100% sure on that but if it was it further shows how we got a pos out of a neg.
