Anyone have any songs they listened to as kids & on hearing them again realised you were way off in you interpretation of the lyrics.

My best mate & I were disscussing it a few years back & he admitted to thinking the chorus lyrics to the song by Belinda Carlisle or someone "Our lips are sealed" sang as "Alex the Seal".

He said he never understood why it didn't make sense but thought they were just trying to make it rhyme. I pissed myself laughing & we went on to talk for ages about similar songs & misinterpreted lyrics but I can't remeber any of them now.

Was it Roxette who sung Dresssed for Success? As a kid I always thought it was Dressed for Some Sex. I assumed she was trying to be a prostitute or something with the 'Shaping me up for the big time baby' line. I was disgusted when the girls in primary school were singing along to it, I was like, you massive trollops!

you can't blame anyone for not understanding James Reyne lyrics, he sang in a language all of his own.

It was only a few days ago that I realised that crap macy gray song didnt say...

'I wear gumboots (or I often said gumballs depending on my mood...) when you are not near" Instead of my world crumbles when you are not near.

I like my version better....damn perfectionist friends.

"Six o'clock and going down/Coffee's hot and the toast is round".
