Madunit: Why doesn't the PM stuff work

Hi madunit

I can't get the PM stuff to work. I go to my profile, click on send message, put
in a case sensitive username and the message seemingly "goes", but it is never
added to sent messages (which is why I haven't been PMing).

The PM doesn't seem to work. What am I doing wrong?

Do I need to have made a certain number of posts before I can PM? Smeghead
also appears to be deliberately closed to PM, although I don't why he would be.

Do you need to be someones "friend" in order to PM them?

Do I require a static IP? Do I need to use an IP within a particular range? It
all seems to be well over the top. Is it a firewall problem?

Could you please PM me and see if I get the message. I have sent you several.

Click on a members name in a post, a drop down menu will appear, click Send a private message

the username you type into a PM is case sensitive, but as you type it, options will be displayed that you click on.

You don't need to be friends

On other forums you can choose not to be contactable by PM. Maybe that's the same here?
