What a turning point that Sua' no try was. Instead of going into the sheds 20-16 it was 26-10. Massive difference.
Saints are frustrating to watch that is for sure but they are in every game except Roosters. The 2 losses to Souths and Parra will come back to bite them big time and they have themselves to blame. Mentally they are very poor except I feel for the youngsters. They play with much more energy and drive throughout the game. The older guys simply drop off. Come in and out of games when they please.
I can only support Sloan for so long but his game on the weekend was terrible and he should have stopped at least 1 of those tries. Him and Suli are the spot. Teams are guaranteed a try or 2 on that side each week. When in need go to the well and attach that side. Suli for a big man and with so many games under his belt just does not cut it for me. He should be smashing blokes and making line breaks galore with that frame of his but is just a battering ram that can never break a line. In defence he gets caught out. He should be smashing them so they are scared to go to that side like the old Rava before the NRL intervened.
Good to see the youngsters are standing out in 2025 in Couchman, Egan and Stewart. Stewart's try was awesome and loved his reaction. No celebration, lets get back for the kick to score another. LKT was also solid and started well with his ripper pass to set up the try. I have seen enough to suggest more juniors need to be given a crack. If Sloan can still be picked with all his errors, there is no reason why Finau can not be given more of a chance. This kid I feel will be far better on the wing than Sloan given he gets more games. He simply just runs harder and looks harder to stop when he winds up. Defence will get better but cannot be worse than Sloans after so many games. Sloan should play KOE for a while with Illias and work on their games.
