Congrats to Daniel Ricciardo who is turning heads in practise. Faster then Webber in P2. This should be a very good spectacle. McClaren, Red Bull and Mercedes all there. I'd be interested to see Torro Rosso's race pace. I am still certain we will see Ricciardo on a podium in 2012 and he may be able to pluck out a win ala Seb Vettel.

That is a big call and a very big ask. If Ricciardo can finish nearly all the races and out qualify and finish ahead of his teammate he will have done very well. Get the finishes, get the points and get a better drive when the shuffle starts.

Alonso's drive was fantastic. No-one told him that he had no hope. Perez chase was also inspired. I'd prefer a fast, dry race but a bit of rain always makes things interesting and it's not as if Alonso & Perez lucked it in. Great drives. Webber was his usual dour self. Pity MSC and Grosjean came together so early in the race. Both of them would have been something to watch the way the race panned out.

It is going to be an interesting season.

What happened I saw up to where they pitted ror the third time and vettel came out in third spot next I see he won

Both drivers were told by their engineers to turn their engines down, conserve tyres and drive to the finish. One followed that order, the other did not. Webber was told that he would not be challenged by Vettel, and that the win was his. Vettel had other ideas and blindsided him with a risky overtaking move that could have seen one or both of them out of the race.

I hope the day comes when Vettel and Hamilton are team-mates. It would be a dumbed down, less talented version of the Prost-Senna feud at McLaren and the teams' repair bill would be astronomical...

Vettel will be at Ferrari at the end if this contract Alonso back to Renault.

Hamilton and Alonso couldnt handle being team mates for a year imagine Vettle with one of them two

I really hope kimi or the Mercedes 2nd driver win the drivers championship this season

Vettel is a prick, but Webber has to harden up a lot. If he hasn't learned by now not to trust Vettel or the team what hope has he got?

Vettel sounds like the one who needs to harden up. He was petrified of Webber in the podium room.

And then there's this:

http://touch.dailymotion.com/video/...13-malaysian-grand-prix-team-radio-extra_auto

  1. The audio suggests that Vettel's engineer was very clear with his instructions to back off, so there goes his "I didn't deliberately ignore my team orders" theory.
  2. Vettel says over the radio that he was "very scared". What a pussy. Just man up and say "yep, I took him because I wanted to win".

I was thinking more of Senna punching Eddy Irvine in 1993, or running Prost off the track in 1990.

Agree with this. After being stabbed in the back, he should've put the foot down and retake Vettle. He risks an accident or running out of fuel of course but by not doing so, he's condemned himself to the number 2 role because he lacks the killer or (unt instinct his team mate has.

In '93 Senna was blocked by Irvine while trying to lap him and then when he confronted him about it after the race, Irvine (apparently) acted like a smart arse and wouldn't take any responsibility and accused Senna of driving too slowly ( ! )

In 1990, Senna believed that by going for that minute gap at the first corner was his last resort. There were a lot of outside factors going into that race, some of them going back to the previous year when Prost bumped Senna off at the track (remniscent of Schumacher on Villeneuve in '97) yet Senna was disqualified for using the escape road to rejoin the track. Prost definitely wasn't as squeaky clean as people like Murray Walker would have you believe. I suggest you read Nigel Mansell's autobiography to get a better idea of how Prost operated within a team. Vettel reminds me of him a bit...
