Man bashed over poor holy diver cover

not sure if this had been posted or not...happened the other day:

NOVEMBER 12--Meet Kyle Drinkwine. The Wisconsin man, 24, allegedly became so incensed by a lackluster karaoke performance of a heavy metal song that he assaulted the singer and a second man, police charge. According to a River Falls Police Department report, Drinkwine throttled singer James Mischler, 28, and his friend Cyrus Kozub, 29, "over one's ability to sing karaoke." Though cops did not specify which song set Drinkwine off last week, Kozub told TSG that Mischler was performing "Holy Diver," the title cut on Dio's 1983 debut album (the band is fronted by Ronnie James Dio, the former Black Sabbath lead singer).

Following the assaults, police apprehended Drinkwine after a short foot chase. A subsequent Breathalyzer test recorded his blood alcohol content at .169, more than twice the state limit. Drinkwine was booked into the Pierce County Jail on battery and disorderly conduct counts. He is pictured below in a November 7 mug shot snapped in neighboring St. Croix County, where he was charged with violating probation on a prior case. Though Drinkwine declined to speak with cops following his arrest, an officer overheard him, during a jail phone call, tell a friend he "f**ked up" and was arrested for fighting. This is the second time in 15 months that a karaoke singer has been attacked over their song styling. Last August, a Washington man was punched by a female bar patron who thought his cover of "Yellow," a Coldplay song, "really sucked." (7 pages)

Slightly off topic... but what is a holy diver?

He can simultaneously ride the tiger.. while being down to long in the midnight sea.

f**k that is streching it.

Ladies and gentlemen here is Jon Stevens the former INXS lead singer
or
here is John Farnham the former LRB lead singer
or
Ian Astbury the former Doors lead singer.

I am sure RJD would rather be remembered for oh I dunno may be DIO.

^^ I dunno, I reckon it's a fair call- Dio was in Sabbath before Dio (the band), and at a time when Sabbath were still actually relevant. It was really after Dio left that Sabbath vocalists became something of a "who cares" proposition.

Yeah I'm with monkey.

As for the bashing ... just goes to show what happens when you f**k with the classics.

Pfft. Sabbath's (arguably) best album had RJD on vocals.

KSE should be sent to the chair for that horses*it cover of 'Holy Diver' also.

well when I think of Sabbath I do not think of Ronny James Dio that is for sure.

When I hear his name I think of DIO.

RJD was the lead singer for Sabbath when they released their greatest album, Heaven and Hell.

Carch please don't compare Jon Stevens to RJD, really makes me feel uneasy and cranky.

I am not comparing JS to RJD.
I don't reckon he will be rememered for Sabbath...nor should he.
I doubt he would want that either.
