Looking forward to what should be a real fiery encounter

From a Chelsea point of view id love to see Man U get the points and close that gap to 2 points and perhaps dent the Arse confidence a slight bit

My slightly hopeful prediction

United 2 ( Rooney, Scholes)
Arse 1 (Reyes)

Well United win 2-0

Arse shaded the game in general, lots of niggle as expected, United didnt really look like scoring.

Very dodgy penalty given which decided it in the end

Is it true those mean spirited Gits refused to shake hands at the conclusion of the match?

Possibly! But you can say the foul on Ronaldo in the box was not a penalty! You get 1 from 2! But I can't for the life of me say that that penalty decided the match! OMG Man United had the better chances throughout the game and outplayed Arsenal!

Yeah the second one was def a pen. Horseface should've been sent for that tackle on Cole, and Ferdinand was lucky to stay on. Saying that, Arsenals had their fair share of luck in the unbeaten run, and it was going to end sooner or later.

Both teams dived quite a bit unfortunately. Ruud, Ronaldo and (for the penalty) Rooney for Man Utd, and Reyes, Toure and Ljungberg for Arsenal. It just happened that Rooney's was the 'best' dive.

I do have to make a grudging remark though. Ashley Cole seems to have Ronaldo well sussed out. Kept him fairly quiet tonight (although he wasn't playing all that well anyway), but it follows on from the EURO 2004 semi where he became the first and only person who's been able to stop Ronaldo when he's playing well.

Its going to be interesting to see how both teams react to this. Arsenal are going to be looking to make a point and will absolutely smash Southampton (I'm thinking of putting money on them scoring at least 4 goals), but the next few games after that will be where we see how much, if any, damage was caused. And for us, it's going to be a big confidence boost. We haven't been playing well and we're taking time to gel together, but this is just what we needed. And Ruud's reaction after scoring the penalty shows what a monkey has beeen on his back since last years game.

I thought Gary Neville was pretty lucky to still be on the pitch by halftime as well. Reyes was being targetted by the United players (understandably so, he was the best player by a fair distance that first half despite the heavy knocks he took) and when the referee cottoned on to it he was probably more lenient than he should have been. Arsenal weren't really that far off their usual selves, played some slick football in periods of each half and probably should have led at by halftime but Roy Carroll made some impressive saves. United weren't quite as good but they gritted it out. No doubt Arsenal have had some luck every now and again to keep this streak going as long as it has but they'd probably be disappointed that fortune had to desert them on this of all occassions over the last 18 months. #-o

Arsenal cannot complain about dodgy penalties, how many draws/wins did they get during there unbeatean streak through debatable penalties? Pires' effort against portsmouth last season springs to mind

well in truly over it, don't even follow either team or support the EPL. Just find it amusing that a match between the supposed top teams of england and european football was influenced by some dodgy decisions and ordinary play. I follow the serie a where teams actually play defence, dont suck ass in europe and where diving is an art form :) :)

Oh come on mate! Diving is WORSE in Italy than just about every other major league! I think you may have forgot, didn't Italy have a player sent off for DIVING in the World Cup! It part of their culture

Every major league has its "DIVERS". The Spanish league is by far the worst in terms of players taking dives, then the French, but Italy would be in the top 3 mate!

Locky, I wouldn't say Palace are exactly perfect either, at least everyone else can be a bit more convincing about it

Really? Where is your proof?

Diving is no worse in Italy than it is in England or Spain.

Italy has built a false reputation of diving, just like it has built a false reputation of being boring and not having many goals scored, which I proved wrong in another thread.

Saying diving is part of Italian culture is sheer stupidity. But i'd expect nothing less from someone who has probably never watched a Serie A game in his life.

Stick to the EPL mate.
