Man Utd v Chelsea - Community Shield

Traditional Season curtain raiser tonight as the Champions take on the FA Cup Winners at Wembley. Whilst defeat in this event is fairly insignificant it will be interesting to see both sides line up for the first time this season. Obviously with not much pressure on, it should be a whole lot better then the cagey FA Cup final where both sides looked terrified of each other and cancelled each other out.

Chelsea have had their issues in the pre season. Some average performances and a few nagging injuries. Guys like Lampard and Joe Cole are traditionally slow starters and have been average in the lead up games. Drogba has picked up where he left off and looks the sharpest of the strikers. Sheva has been poor and I think he will be warming the bench plenty of times this season.

On the signings front Malouda has come in from Lyon. Whilst Robben is still a Chelsea player it looks like it will be a direct swap and robben will be going to Madrid. I would be looking to keep hold of him as he adds something totally different, when fit. Other signings from Chelsea are fairly low key ones.

Man Utd have rolled out the cash for Hargreaves, Tevez, Nani and Anderson. Very imposing sqaud and are probably slight favourites to retain their crown.

12am kickoff. ESPN I think its on. Cant wait to watch their wonderful coverage:sarcasm:

Fox tonight I think

Nah definitely ESPN.

Anderson was injured midweek and probably won't play which is a shame. No Tevez or Nani either but hopefully Hargreaves is good to play.

Have a feeling Chelsea may win this one 1-0, hopefully not.

Hopefully both scumbags can inflict pain on the other

How come every time I read one of your posts it sounds like somebody told you that you should hate us and Chelsea rather than you actually hating us?

Are you saying that I should hate memebrs instead of hating teams?

He means that it seems like someone told you to hate them, rather than you actually hating them for your own reasons

f**k, Just heard Terry is out for 4 weeks with Medial Ligament damage to the Knee.

With away trips to Reading and Liverpool in the first week of the new season this is very bad news for Chelsea. Utd at Old Trafford is just over 6 weeks away as well.

Cant afford to give Man Utd a early 6 point gap, because that as proved last year, it is tough work to run down.

Appears so. Drogba also no where to be seen???. Not sure if he is injured. Sheva, Ballack and Bridge are confirmed as injured.

Interesting team Named

Cech, Johnson, A Cole, Ben Haim, Carvalho, Essien, Mikel, Lampard, J Cole, Malouda, Wright-Phillips.

Appear to be playing without a recognised striker.

GK: VDS

RB: Brown
CB: Ferdinand
CB: Vidic
LB: Silvestre

RM: Ronaldo
CM: O'Shea
CM: Carrick
LM: Evra

CF: Giggs
CF: Rooney

Changing my tip, United 1-0. Chelsea haven't got a striker at all!

Haha, for those of you who have Frank Lampard in your fantasy squads, I highly recommend you dump him. This will be his first year of decline.

Anyways, that was your typical Chelsea/Manchester Utd fixture. Relatively few decent scoring opportunities on either end and once again we're going into a season with our back four in complete shambles. Unbelievable. Billions of dollars under the belt and the best we could do was Ben Haim who is slower than Ferreria. Good job, guys.

Shaun Wright Phillips needs to go. He can't cut anything from the outskirts. Drop him.

Joe Cole needs to play behind the strikers, not as one. Move him.

Frank Lampard needs to watch every Liverpool game. He is a poor man's Steven Gerrard.

I'd be surprised if Liverpool don't clean us up this year to be honest. Yet I keep the faith :)
